RJ Helton Sounds Relieved To Get ‘American Idol’ Boot

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution spoke with ousted ‘American Idol’ and local resident RJ Helton on what he thought about getting the boot on Wednesday. “I’m excited about doing my own thing now,” Helton said. “I’ve gotten to live my dream out and sing for people and touch people. That’s my goal. Not to be famous or rich.” As for Simon Cowell’s constant criticsm? “When you get put down so much, you don’t want to hear it anymore,” Helton said. “Simon said the same boring thing week after week.”
