Robin Williams Comments On Michael Jackson Trial

Actor/comedian Robin Williams was on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ on Monday where he was asked about the child molestation trial. “Well, I think the word blackmail — hard to use that word with Michael,” Williams responded. “You know, he’s about to jump species, but we’re still saying that… I think that there’s a a little bit of that. I think, you know, it’s a very difficult thing when you look at all the stuff and the trial and why you’re under a gag order. We won’t talk about that, Jay. You can’t talk about that unless we do the whole blind your face out. ‘It’s hard. My name is Phil. I have a late night talk show.’ But watching the trial, you know, they bring in character witnesses. When they bring in Larry King as a character witness, it’s like, okay, game’s over. But remember a long time ago that Don King bailed on Michael? Remember, Michael was claiming racism, which was like, ‘Michael, honey, you’ve got to pick a race first.’ You know, when Don King bails on you, that’s — [imitating Don King] ‘I can’t believe Michael’s — I’m out of here.’ If Don King bails, even rats are going, ‘What’s wrong? What’s wrong?’ It’s a hard call.”

Real World Walks Into The Jacko Trial

March 7, 2005 – CourtTV’s Diane Dimond weighed in on the testimony given by the 18-year-old sister of Michael Jackson’s accuser last week. Dimond writes in her weekly commentary for The New York Post: “The family at the center of this case is poor, plagued with the left-over trauma of years of domestic abuse and, sadly, unsophisticated. They seem to have practiced a blind loyalty to Jackson, committing to videotape heaps of praise and calling him a ‘father figure’ who saved them from destitution. They accepted each and every Jackson invitation to participate in his life. Now, all that has come back to haunt them, and there is no turning back.”

Gagged Leno Gets Fill-In For Friday’s Jacko-logue

March 5, 2005 – Jay Leno joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Friday night, “I’m sure you know, I was called as a witness in the Michael Jackson trial. I’m going to tell the jury the same thing I’m telling you — I only rode that llama once, okay? [Laughter] I had no idea. I didn’t know it was underage. … Do you know about this gag order? Well, there is this gag order. I’m not allowed to tell any Michael Jackson jokes. I can still write them. I just can’t tell them. So what we’ve done is, we’ve brought in a guest comedian to help tell the Michael Jackson jokes. … Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome one of the stars of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, two-time Emmy award-winning actor and comedian Brad Garrett, ladies and gentlemen!” So Garrett joked, “So let’s see what’s new in the Michael Jackson trial. Or as we like to call it, ‘Diary of a Mad White Woman’. … Now, they said this trial will probably last about six months, although Michael Jackson asked the judge today for some time off so he could entertain the troops. Isn’t that nice, huh? Okay, they’re cub scout troops. [Laughter] But they’re still troops, right? Troops are troops. … During the opening arguments the other day, two views of Michael Jackson actually were presented. The prosecution portrayed him as a perverted child molester and the defense portrayed him as a really talented child molester.”
