Seeing Red Over MTV Red Carpet Snub Fears

The Edinburgh Evening News reports Fans eager to see stars including Kylie Minogue, Beyoncé Knowles and Christina Aguilera being whisked in by limousine at the MTV Europe Awards face disappointment. City officials have been told that fans will be barred from watching the stars arriving at the gala event at the Western Harbour. The apparent decision to freeze out star-spotters has prompted a plea from the city’s deputy Lord Provost for MTV to remember the fans. “I’ve been told that no members of the public will be allowed to gather at the entrance or watch the stars walking up the red carpet,” said Edinburgh’s Deputy Lord Provost Steve Cardownie, the city’s festivals and events champion. “A great opportunity would be lost if there isn’t a change of heart on this and I’m hoping MTV will have a rethink over this. There are going to be an awful lot of people, particularly youngsters, who won’t want to go to the event in the Gardens.”
