A half-hour ‘Sesame Street’ special featuring John Mayer, tells stories of service members who return home with injuries, visible and invisible, and explores the heroic struggles their families face in discovering a new way of finding a new normal. It salutes the extraordinary courage and strength of these military families and offers the general public a powerful glimpse into what they often must endure. The special will air on PBS on April 1st at 8PM (check local listings) in conjunction with April as the Month of the Military Child. In regards to the TV special, Mayer said on his Twitter account (@johncmayer) on Saturday:
I don’t ask often, but please tune in. It’s one of the most important things I have been (and will be) involved.
Injuries and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) will be one of the largest issues facing our country for many years to come.
Handing in your rifle doesn’t mean you’ve disarmed. The military mindset was not installed with an “off” switch, and we need to address it.
And that is said with complete admiration for our armed forces. I am proud to know several Marines (MCMAP) and they are to be revered.
