Richard Abowitz of Las Vegas Weekly reviewed Shakira’s concert last Saturday (January 25) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. He wasn’t impressed with the staging and choreography, but was impressed with the singer herself, especially compared to peers such as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. Abowitz writes, “What Shakira lacked in spontaneity she made up for with an authentic, engaged performance and artistic confidence her peers can’t even aspire to. Where Britney and Christina seem to be floundering, whoring on different styles, hoping to match their evolving sense of identity, Shakira has grown her sound and her image with unerring confidence.”
