Shakira Receives Death Threats
The Sun reports Shakira is terrified of returning home to Colombia after receiving death threats. “Wherever Shakira goes, a gang of minders follow her,” a source close to the singer disclosed. “She is not being a diva but her management are not taking any chances – the people we think are making these threats are not the sort you ignore.” Shakira’s spokesperson said, “Shakira is one of the world’s biggest stars and her security reflects the volatile nature of her home country. She lives in Miami but is still fiercely proud of her country. Most of her family still live there.”
Update: Jeannette Walls of MSNBC reports that The Sun’s story on Shakira being afraid to return to her hometown in Colombia because of death threats are “completely untrue,” according to her spokeswoman.
