Shakira is latest celebrity tapped as a United Nations goodwill ambassador. She has been appointed to front for UNICEF, the U.N. agency geared toward helping children. “UNICEF has done tremendous work in my home nation,” Shakira said in a statement Friday. “I have seen firsthand the difference UNICEF makes. It’s rewarding to know that I join such a great list of stars supporting UNICEF, and can personally contribute to improving the lives and futures of children.”
