Shakira Should Stick To Her Original Material

Steve Knopper of the Rocky Mountain News reviewed the Shakira show at the Pepsi Center in Denver on January 29th. He didn’t sound too impressed with the Colombian singer’s performance of AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black’ and Aerosmith’s ‘Dude (Looks Like a Lady)’. Knopper says Shakira “looked like she was playing dress-up, writhing barefoot on a barrier and meekly tossing her blonde, curly hair.” He added, “It’s too bad Shakira, who insists to all interviewers she grew up with Led Zeppelin in her blood, is so fixated on this bizarre rock-image issue. She fared better with original material, belly-dancing to the opening Ojos Asi, an Arabic-rooted anthem that touches on her strengths in dance and folk music.” Knopper gave the performance a B-.
