More Attractive ‘American Idol’ Contestants Promised
January 18, 2004 – The Toronto Sun was on hand as reporters spoke with ‘American Idol’ judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul about the new season. Cowell told Abdul he wanted the trio to pick better looking pop wannabes this go-round. Asked to name examples of good-looking pop stars, Cowell said “Britney’s cute, isn’t she? Simon Cowell Appears On ‘Fresh Air’
January 17, 2004 – ‘American Idol’ judge Simon Cowell was on NPR’s ‘Fresh Air’ with Terry Gross to discuss the third season of the reality show and his new book, ‘Simon Cowell: I Don’t Mean to Be Rude, But…’
Simon says he loves the idea of giving someone 15 minutes of fame and then taking it away. He says that the show works because of its imperfections, pointing out Clay Aiken’s ghastly ‘Grease’ performance, and that transvestite titled movie disaster — ‘From Justin to Kelly.’
Cowell went into some detail on the hiring of Paula Abdul and how it created tension between the two — but he actually does like her.
He blasted ‘American Juniors’ as “dreadful” saying he has nothing to do with the program, pointing out Michael Jackson as one of the pitfalls of entering the music industry without giving them a chance to grow up normally.

Carmen Rasmusen’s Message To Fans
January 11, 2004 – ‘American Idol’ finalist Carmen Rasmusen posted the following message on her official website on December 17th:
I have a bunch of exciting career news. My first single, ‘Be With You,’ has been released on the radio. It’s a fun song, so if you’re in Utah, be sure to request it from Star 102.7 and 94.9 ZHT. I’ll give you the request line numbers at the end of the letter. My song is featured in the new movie ‘Pride and Prejudice’, where I made my acting debut. I play Charlotte Lucas in the film, and sing at the party scene. You should really check out this movie. It’s very cute and opens December 5th. ‘Be With You’ is featured on the ‘Pride and Prejudice’ soundtrack. Be sure to pick up a copy. Besides my music, it has a bunch of great songs by other talented artists.
