Ballads Weigh Down Jessica Simpson Album ‘In This Skin’

Sal Cinquemani of slant magazine has reviewed Jessica Simpson’s latest album ‘In This Skin’, giving it 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. Cinquemani says of the album’s lead single ‘Sweetest Sin’: “The catchy tune, penned by Diane Warren, is a glossy, ever-so-slightly over-produced affair. And the same can be said for the entire album, which is weighed down by soggy, overwrought pop ballads that find Simpson repeatedly declaring her devotion to [husband Nick Lachey].”

She doesn’t even mention nicks name in any of the songs, People are such damn morons. When Jennifer Lopez got with Ben Affleck people said her whole album was about him.

Ok, let’s be frank,,,this girl is whack. She’s brain-dead, ditzy and boring. Granted she was a slightly strong voice. but she needs a make-over, some education and a dose of common sense. I thought girls like her end up pregnant and barefoot with dirty feet leaving in the projects. She’s an air-head with no musical skills, other than the talent to scream. She doesn’t write, she doesn’t compose, she has nothing to stay, she’s a waste of CD space. Next bland Diva—–)

Deary it doesn’t matter that she never says NICK during the songs, every interview this child goes on out of her mouth is it’s about my love for Nick, that is where this interviewer got his info from. Now be a good little fan and take your head out of Jessica’s ass long enough to hear what she says during an interview and you may learn a thing or two.

I feel bad for Jessica. She has a nice voice but she comes out with such boring music… and then goes and says stupid things in her interviews, and acts stupid on her TV show, so everyone thinks she is a ditz. She needs to take a lesson from Madonna, Britney, and Christina and completely reinvent herself to get fans’ attention. Do something no other pop tart has done, like come out with a hard rock album. She seems to prefer to follow in everybody else’s footsteps, so no one cares what she does.

You took the words right out of my mouth! LOL! Whenever Jessica mentions the album, she says how it’s about love and about Nick.

LOL, c’mon, who ever mentions their lover’s name in the songs anyways? It’s just obvious in the lyrics and the interviews…this album is all about her love for Nick, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s a rare, sweet, and beautiful thing. However, her latest new songs from her new album are kinda over sugar coated with just love songs and messages about him. I wonder if Nick had sugar coated his album with an extra full helping of sappy love ballads to express his love for Jessica in his new album.

I agree with you. She’s quite different from Britney Spears and Christina though. At least she doesn’t use so many sex games and tricks to manipulate the audience, the media, and the fans so to grab attention and a higher status as “bad girls”. But yeah…she is quite boring, doesn’t seem to have nothing else to talk about but her husband nick, and her attempt to be so sexy is just gross and embarrassing to watch.

What makes Jessica Simpson different from everyone else is that she’s not trying to follow anybody else’s footsteps. So far her music has been pretty much the same since she came out with her first album. Yes, she does have a nice voice, but it’s a shame that she doesn’t do something more creative with it. I don’t think she needs to be like Christina or Christina (if she did then bad and negative attention would be all on her), or hard rock, that’s kinda the predictable route nowadays for bubble gum pop artists to take. I think that she just needs to be more creative with her voice. It can probably do a lot if she just challenges it more often.
