Variety reports Sonic Music has denied reports that the company is trying to buy out Michael Jackson’s share of The Beatles’ song-publishing catalog. A company spokesman told Variety, “We are not in discussions with Mr. Jackson over the sale of his share of the ATV catalog (which includes the Lennon-McCartney compositions) … these rumors are completely baseless.” This may have been a carefully worded response, as the report was they were going to call Jackson on his loan, not buy out his share.
