Sophie Ellis Bextor checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Monday (January 14) with the following message:
Hello everyone,
First the bad news, my tour is to be postponed. I wanted you to hear it from me first but I understand some venues leaked the information.
The good news is that the tour will definitely be rescheduled and it will accompany the release of my ‘Greatest Hits’ which means the tour will feature new material. I am sincerely sorry that I’ve had to move the tour and don’t want to upset my fans but as my ‘Greatest Hits’ is scheduled for release later in the year I really want to spend my time until then writing and recording the best new songs I can.
All I can say is that, as with the amount of time I spent making my third album, sometimes it’s worth going the extra mile to make sure the music I’m making is the best it can be. In this case, I promise that the tour and new single will be as good as I can possibly make it.
Please try to trust me and bear with me! The support I have from my fans means more to me than anything and I don’t take it for granted. Thank you for your ongoing patience and I hope you agree with me once the tour and album are released that I made the right decision.
