Sugababes Top UK Charts With ‘Freak Like Me’

The Sun reports the Sugababes have topped this weeks UK singles chart with the help of Gary Numan’s 1979 ‘Are ‘Friends’ Electric?’ backing their single ‘Freak Like Me’ – and the girls didn’t even know who Numan was. Sugababe Keisha Buchanan revealed, “I didn’t have a clue who Gary Numan was, I wasn’t born until 1984. But my parents told me about him.” Numan was understanding of the girls not knowing who he was though saying, “The Sugababes are very young. It’s odd to think that when ‘Are ‘Friends’ Electric?’ was a hit the girls weren’t even a twinkle in their fathers eyes.” He also doesn’t mind because he’s getting 50% of the royalties off the single.
