Tom Scanlon of the Seattle Times checked out sisters Chloe, 9, on drums, and Asya, 11, on keyboard and vocals who make up the local pop duo Smoosh at Mr. Spot’s Chai House in Ballard. Scanlon says, “I’m not saying Asya’s writing quite rivals Brian Wilson’s or that the poppy compositions challenge the Beatles. I’m just saying these girls have something, something fresh and unique … something plenty of adult bands lack. On a night that started out so depressingly, Smoosh led me to fall in love with the magic of music, all over again.”
