Aaron Carter Upbeat Amid Discord
January 18, 2004 – The saga surrounding Aaron Carter and his family was the focus of an article in the Miami Herald on Sunday. As for his relationship with his mother Jane Carter, Aaron says he just wants his mom to concentrate on managing his career instead of interfering with his father’s new life. “She was a good mom growing up, but the money, fame and glory started attacking her,” Aaron explained. He also revealed Aaron Jane is now talking about writing another tell-all about him.
The Associated Press reports Jane Carter, mother of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter and teen pop star Aaron Carter was arrested for attacking the girlfriend of her estranged husband, Monroe County sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Marquith said. 44-year-old Jane Carter pulled 29-year-old Ginger Elrod out of the bed by her hair and beat her, Marquith said. A reply from Joy Leist Ex Aaron Carter Street Team Director about the current debate.
I concur completely for the most part with the writer [admin note: assumably this article]. As an adult supporter of Aaron for four years now, I have watched and even at one point became involved in this wonderful world of entertainment. So I speak with some information that not all of Aaron’s fans have.
Jane was and is the brains, brawn, and energy behind Spectra Music & Management. It is a corporation, although I would have to check to see if it is a LLC. There are individuals who do not set up LLCs when setting up corporations, however, it is rare. Bob may want to say he was co-manager, but it would have been set up for tax and/or other business reasons. It certainly was not due to the fact he contributed this huge amount to the day to day decision making in Aaron’s or Nick’s careers. Which we will get back to Nick and Bob in just one moment, because, well I’m on a roll now. My understanding about some of the difficulties in the end of the marriage were over Jane turning over partial control of Aaron’s career to another management company. Bob was against it, it cut into the profit. What there was of a profit anyway. Jane allowed the other company to come on board, bringing with it a whole new round of expenses to look at from a failing concert tour.
What do you think of when you hear the name Aaron Carter? Aaron, at the tender age of sixteen has had the most number one hits for his age. In Britain, having the most consecutive top ten hits landed him in the Guinness Book of World Records. Music has always been in his family. His brother Nick Carter, used to be part of the extremely popular group the Backstreet Boys.
Aaron Carter’s career, as we have known it, is over. After his initial blast-off success as a teen dream — with the image of innocence, boy-next-door sweetness — his management team failed to prepare him for the obvious transition from boyhood into late adolescence. He continued to try and appeal to his youthful audience, continued the innocent, boy-next-door approach, with only tentative attempts to reach beyond his core audience (with things like the appearance on Family Affair, talk of movies and some modeling.) What that means is that his sole readily available outlet, at this point, are those areas targeting young teens and kids — the fan magazines, pop records, tours, etc.
Then, BOOM! Aaron obliterates his image. For whatever the reason, the things that have happened — firing your mom, dissing her on tv, suing for emancipation, dredging up allegations of spousal abuse, discussions of divorce and child custody — are POISON in the part of the entertainment world that Aaron occupies. Other than copies of magazines already in production, I doubt we will ever see a picture of Aaron in any teen magazine ever again. He will not have a concert of the types he has done ever again. He will certainly never have another teeny-bopper album release.
Teen queen Hilary Duff told In Touch magazine that she thinks her ex-boyfriend Aaron Carter’s legal separation from his mother Jane is “for the best.”
