Aly & AJ checked in with fans on their Twitter (@78violet) on Friday (May 15) after watching Weezer and a reunited Blink-182 perform at the T-Mobile Party Celebrating the launch of the new Sidekick LX at Paramount Studios backlot last night. They write:

Alyson and Amanda Michalka of Aly & AJ checked in with fans on their YouTube channel while at the LA Pet Clinic, where the pop rock duo went to adopt a puppy after finishing up their new album. “This is kind of our end of the record present,” AJ said. “A little reward. Alyson and Amanda Michalka of Aly & AJ updated fans on their blog at MySpace on Monday (April 27), clarifying a Tiger Beat interview at YouTube about touring plans in support of their ‘Insomniatic’ follow-up. The sibling pop duo write:
Hey guys…hope you’re all doing well! We wanted to get on here real quick to address some of the tour rumors. Apparently there’s some talk online that we’ll be touring this summer even though Aly said we’d be on the road in the Tigerbeat interview. But…we don’t have any plans to tour yet since we’re focusing on finishing the record. So no, we won’t be on the road this summer or anytime soon. BTW…the album is sounding really amazing so far and is definitely a bit heavier than Insomniatic. Don’t worry…not crazy heavy but it’s got lots of guitars and definitely a more rockin feel. We think you’ll really dig it and can’t wait to share the final version with you. We’re working on mixing it right now so hopefully that will get to happen soon! Lots of love xoxo
Tiger Beat and BOP caught up with Aly Michalka on Friday (April 24) at the Bandslam press junket in Westwood, California, where she talked about the new Aly & AJ album and tour details. “It’s a little bit heavier than ‘Insomniatic’, so don’t be too scared,” Aly explained. “It’s definitely a little more on the rock side but I think you guys are gonna dig it.” Watch the video via the mag’s YouTube channel below.
Alyson and Amanda Michalka of Aly & AJ spoke with Popstar! magazine about Valentine’s Day. Aly said she’s “never had a best Valentine’s Day because I don’t think I’ve ever had a boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. It’s always ended before or right after.” AJ said she’s “looking forward to being on the beach, because it’s casual too.” Neither wanted flowers or candy. Watch the message below.

So…while we were packing up our Christmas decorations now that it’s the new year, we came across this old tape and figured we should put it up (even though its after Christmas! haha). Here’s the 2nd home video! This is us on Christmas morning when Aly was 8 and AJ was 6. It was our old dog Saint’s birthday (yep, her birthday was on Christmas) and we made her do some tricks to earn her birthday cake! Also…check out the sweet horses we got as presents. All you had to do was push the saddle to make it run. Sweet!

They write, “We figured, in the spirit of the season, we’d post up some old videos from when we were just starting our singing careers! Haha. There were 1,500 people at our church so it was a little nerve racking.” Watch the siblings and other kids in the choir performing ‘Hark! The sisters write, “You all know that we’re writing like crazy for our new record but we wanted to show you that we’re still staying in shape! after all, we need to be healthy once we’re back on the road touring again.” The pair then make a parody pitch for a personal ninja and CD-ROM and DVD for $9.99. Alyson and Amanda Michalka of Aly & AJ spoke with Popstar! Magazine at a the Toy Wishes Holiday Preview in New York City on October 7th, where the sisters talked about their new affiliation with Hasbro’s Littlest Pet Shop game and their love of board games. Asked if they’ve been writing for a new album, AJ responded, “Oh my gosh, yeah, all we’ve been doing lately is writing, it’s been insane. We’re really excited, we already have some potential singles that we think will really hit hard, which will be really fun. We’re really excited, we haven’t gotten in studio to record vocals yet because we’ve still been in the writing process, but we start cutting really soon, pretty much as soon as we get back from New York. But we’re excited. It’s gonna be a really big year for us next year because my movie will come out in October, her movie will come out in the summer. The record will come out probably April/May of next year. Then we’ll go on tour for awhile, so it will be good.” Watch the interview via YouTube below.
