Could Antonella Barba’s Exit Be Part Of ‘Idol’ Conspiracy?

Gael Fashingbauer Cooper of MSNBC’s TestPattern commented on Thursday night’s ‘’ eliminations, including the removal of the show’s most talked about semi-finalist. “I honestly didn’t believe would go home, but for all the wrong reasons,” she writes. “Has any singer this season received more press attention, even if most of it was unwanted? The racy photos that are supposedly of Barba have people buzzing. Her name recognition alone has to be about the highest among the current crop of ‘Idol’ wannabes. The fact that she did get booted, and not Haley or Jordin Sparks, makes the conspiracy theorists in all of us come out. Could ‘American Idol’ be messing with the results, thinking they didn’t need Barba on the show, especially now that people are pointing out the double standard that kept her on the show and booted Frenchie Davis? Inquiring minds do wonder. Her leaving was deserved, but it was still surprising.” Read more.

Berman: Kindness Sent Antonella Barba Home

Craig Berman of MSNBC shared his thoughts on the elimination of Sundance Head, Sabrina Sloan, Jarred Cotter, and from Thursday night’s ‘’. “It was a kindness to send home – the 20-year-old has been through enough already, given all the buzz over the risqué photos that appeared all over the Internet,” Berman writes. “The whole hullabaloo undoubtedly mortified her, embarrassed the show, and once again caused Rosie O’Donnell to inject herself into the reality TV landscape for no apparent reason other than the fact that more people watch ‘Idol’ than ‘The View’. Apart from the titillation of teenage boys hoping that more real or made-up pictures would surface if she stuck around longer, there was no reason to keep Barba around.” Read more.
