Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has filed for divorce from Pete Wentz after 2 1/2 years of marriage. “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” they said in a joint statement. “We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”

Ashlee is seeking joint legal but sole physical custody of their son Bronx, with visitation rights for Pete, though he wants joint custody. Simpson is also seeking spousal support from the former Fall Out Boy bassist and is asking to restore her name to Ashlee Simpson.

“After Bronx was born Ashlee made a conscious decision to get out of the business, but Pete’s heart was in music so he kept touring and that became a big issue in their relationship,” a source told TMZ.

Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were spotted outside the Sanrio 50th Anniversary the other night at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. Ashlee apparently have no idea what Demi Lovato is going through but did say she enjoys the hit TV show ‘Glee’. They also talked about holiday plans and Pete having a new album coming out in the spring with his new group Black Cards, but wouldn’t dish about the title.
