For the first time in 10 years Belinda Carlisle has released a new album. Titled ‘Voila’, it is sung entirely in French, and includes covers of classics by Serge Gainsbourg and Edith Piaf. “I had no desire to make another pop album,” Carlisle, speaking from her home in Provence, France, told the Sydney Morning Herald. “It just wasn’t interesting to me. I had been there and done that. I was in the Go-Go’s and after that made so many solo albums. I decided years ago if I were ever going to record anything else it would have to be something challenging and completely different.”
PlanetOut caught up with Belinda Carlisle for a lengthy interview, where the Go-Gos singer talked about how she was asked to replace troubled ‘American Idol’ judge Paula Abdul on the FOX hit. “As far as ‘American Idol’ goes, I was actually approached a couple of years ago about possibly replacing Paula Abdul,” Carlisle revealed. “But to answer your question [as to whether she'd want to be a judge on the show], I really don’t know. To be perfectly honest, it’s just not my thing. I’d rather listen to music that comes from a more organic place. But you know, I just … don’t know if I would or not.”

The Sun spoke with Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Gos who has denied having plastic surgery. Carlisle said, “I’m lucky. These are real cheekbones and I’m hoping they’re going to hold up my face up for a while yet. Surgery scares me. You can lose all the personality in your face. I think people look at me and see a survivor.” As for her Playboy shots, she said, “I’m happy with my body but I have to work hard at it – and it’s getting harder. As you get older it’s difficult to keep track of all the stuff that’s going south.”
