Charice Pempengco did a 1•DAY Story for Acuvue contact lenses, where the Filipino recording artist talked about how she knew “1•DAY” singing would be her life. “I used to be scared to sing, but once I found my voice, I knew one day singing would be my life,” the 19-year-old who caught her break thanks to Oprah Winfrey says in the clip. Charice Pempengco is quick to follow the advice of Oprah Winfrey, whether it be her career or love life. “The last time we talked, she told me not to fall in love or have a boyfriend yet,” the 18-year-old Filipino star told journalists while in Manila. “I agree with her because I myself am not ready for that. In Ms. Oprah’s eyes, I’m still a baby.”
Charice, who travelled from Los Angeles to host a Valentine special for GMA 7, said she did have a crush on former *NSYNC’er Justin Timberlake. “I sang for him at an event and my knees started shaking when he smiled at me. I nearly forgot the lyrics,” the pop singer confessed. Read more.
Charice revealed to Jake of Radio Disney how she found out she got the role on ‘Glee’, hearing about it on Twitter before the show’s producers contacted her. “I’d been a fan of the show, so I auditioned for it,” she explained. “It was just so funny that I found out on Twitter first before they told me. I was new at that time and I checked my Twitter, so I saw a lot of responses saying Charice is on ‘Glee’. I was like what? I hadn’t even gotten any email from them. Charice Pempengco is out with a sizzle reel, documenting her past television appearances, including ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’. The 17-year-old Philippines native, discovered via YouTube in 2007, is releasing her self-titled US debut CD on May 11th via 143/Reprise Records – the day after her 18th birthday. Her first single, ‘Pyramid’, features labelmate Iyaz (who recently spent four weeks at #1 with his smash hit, ‘Replay’) and is already making waves on Top 40 radio.
