The Girls Aloud singer is sorting out her work visa to rejoin the judges panel in New Jersey on Wednesday. “This is the biggest surprise of the lot – Cheryl is back,” an insider said. “Who could possibly have predicted this – it appeared that Simon had dumped Cheryl for good? A source close to Simon Cowell tells The Sun that ‘The X Factor’ judge has been given the silent treatment from Cheryl Cole after he bowed to pressure to fire the Girls Aloud star in favor of Nicole Scherzinger. Simon was reminded about the personnel move when taping the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ semi-finals, getting booed by the audience while co-hist Dec Donnelly joked, “Can you understand my accent?”
“Simon feels guilty as hell about what has happened to Cheryl. He has admitted it was a cock-up but she won’t hear him out,” the insider said. “They used to be so close. She’d text him round the clock for advice. Now she can’t bring herself to speak to him. He feels like he’s lost a lover.”
Cheryl Cole got some understandable support from Julie Burchill in The Sun on Monday after ‘The X Factor’ sacking, but a rival of the Girls Aloud star took a broadside in the column and wasn’t happy about it. “I adore the way she spat back at that overprivileged crybaby Lily Allen when the public-school tool took a poke at her way back in the day,” Julie said about the ‘Smile’ singer who feuded with Cheryl in 2007. Allen responded to her Twitter followers (lilyroseallen):
Julie Birchill, you are an ignorant and bitter old troll, but I guess you know that already.
The amateur psychiatrist in me says see’s a lot of her younger self in me, and she’s a bit of a “self-loather”. #poorjulieburchill
Cheryl Cole has been axed from ‘The X Factor’ UK edition after refusing to speak to Simon Cowell or the ITV show’s bosses, passing a deadline set before they began taping on Wednesday. “They set her a ridiculous deadline,” a friend of the Girls Aloud star told News of the World. “They have basically done the same to Cheryl as they did to Dannii Minogue – given her an offer she couldn’t accept. They did this because they knew Cheryl wasn’t going to come back and they wanted it to appear that the decision was theirs. It wasn’t – it was Cheryl’s decision to go.”

Cheryl Cole is reportedly seething after being dumped by Simon Cowell as a judge on the American version of ‘The X Factor’. “She is completely shocked and stunned. She never saw this coming at all,” a friend of the Girls Aloud star told The Sun. “The fact that Simon didn’t tell her in person hurt. She never thought he would do that to her.”
But an insider in Cowell’s camp says that’s hogwash. “Cheryl can hardly say this was a total shock. She actually knew about it three days ago,” the source said. “Simon told her in person at his house that it wasn’t working and that he was under so much pressure to release her. She knows she has been nervous in her performances and TV execs were privately concerned.”
According to Us Magazine, Simon Cowell’s decision to replace Cheryl Cole as a judge on ‘The X Factor’ with Nicole Scherzinger centered on the music mogul’s belief that the Girls Aloud star was “a much bigger risk” for the new show to be a success. “Throughout the whole decision making process, Simon was really torn between Cheryl and Nicole,” a source close to the former Pussycat Dolls singer said. “He absolutely loved Nicole, really felt like she was the right one, but also knew his chemistry with Cheryl had been great before in the U.K. He finally decided on the more comfortable option and chose Cheryl.” When they started taping ‘X Factor’ shows, Cowell began to believe selecting Cheryl was a mistake, leading to the shocking personnel change.
A person with direct knowledge of Simon Cowell’s decision to remove Cheryl Cole as a judge on the American version of ‘The X Factor’ tells the New York Times he believed the Girls Aloud star wasn’t comfortable appearing with the show’s other juges, Paula Abdul and L.A. Reid. The source added that Simonmight still change his mind. For now, Nicole Scherzinger has taken Cheryl’s place, leaving the show’s hosting duties to one person, Steve Jones.

TMZ reports Cheryl Cole has been dropped as one of ‘The X Factor’ judges because producers were concerned about her English accent being too difficult for an American audience to understand. Sources added that there was a “lack of chemistry” between the Girls Aloud star and fellow judge Paula Abdul. Though bosses at the UK version of the show want her to return, Cheryl is upset about how she was handled and may break ties with the ‘X Factor’ franchise all together.
‘High School Musical’ star Ashley Tisdale tells ITN she’s excited about Cheryl Cole joining the ‘X Factor’ judging panel.
“I think she is adorable. I don’t really know much about her,” Tisdale said. “But I am excited to have her on ‘The X Factor’ and get to know her. She is really cute.” Tisdale added that she hopes American audiences will be able to understand the Girls Aloud star despite her Geordie accent.
