Cheryl Cole won’t be going back to using her maiden name Tweedy even though her divorce from Ashley Cole is about to be finalized soon. The Girls Aloud star is inspired by Tina Turner, who kept the name after splitting up with her abusive husband Ike Turner in 1976.

“Cheryl has decided her married name will stay. She feels the most successful period of her career has been under the name Cole,” a source told The Sun. “She’s established in Europe. Going back to her maiden name Tweedy would be confusing.”

After battling back from malaria, Cheryl Cole is set to become a charity ambassador to raise awareness to a disease that kills thousands in Africa every day. “It is a very brave decision. Cheryl has thought long and hard about it,” a friend of the Girls Aloud singer told The Mirror. “This is a life-changing, landmark experience for her. She’s seen how malaria destroys people’s lives and now has first-hand knowledge of just how serious it is. Cheryl got the best care possible when she got back from Tanzania and she is very grateful for it. But she is aware that millions of Africans are not so lucky.”

Derek Hough’s grandfather Don Heaton, 80, spoke with News of the World about his reported romance with Cheryl Cole of Girls Aloud. “I know Derek is going out with Cheryl – she is his girlfriend over in England. Terri Hatcher tells News of the World she’s lobbying producers of ‘Desperate Housewives’ to offer Cheryl Cole a multi-episode role on the hit ABC show if she can bounce back from malaria soon enough. “Cheryl is a great role model and exactly the sort of woman we would love to have a role on ‘Desperate Housewives’,” Hatcher told Dan Wootton. “Season seven is going to be a really great series and if she is fit enough I think it would be great to have her in a guest role for two or three episodes.
