Britney Spears won a My VH1 Award on Sunday night in the category of Navel Academy (Best Bellybutton Appearance). As for Christina, she and Mya, Pink, and Lil’ Kim took home awards for Is It Hot in Here or Is It Just My Video? and My Favorite Video. Neither were actually at the event.
MTV talked with Pink about lyrics in “Don’t Let Me Get Me” which includes the verse, “Tired of being compared/ To damn Britney Spears/ She’s so pretty/ That just ain’t me.” Pink said, “I’ve met Britney. She’s really, really sweet. She’s probably the sweetest girl I’ve ever met in my life. But every interview I would sit down, or just anywhere, really, and they’d be like, ‘Well, how do you compare yourself to Britney and Jessica and Christina?’ And I’m just thinking to myself that [they’re asking this] just because we’re the same age, or girls, young white girls singing pop music or whatever we do. But we’re all different. And we all get our own respect.” Read more.
Fans of Christina Aguilera are again up in arms after griping that the official site says she’ll be at the My VH1 Awards tonight. Most are of the opinion right now that she won’t be there and are furious that the webmaster put the date on the official site as an appearance. It should be clarified though, she is nominated, and even if she isn’t physically there, they likely have a recorded acceptance speech they’ll play if they win.
Nowhere does the official site say “Christina will attend”, it’s just listing the date and asking fans to vote. Give Al a break, if he isn’t given material from Christina, Shelly, and/or RCA, what do you expect? Agreed, he should give the site’s some credit, and it would be follow the same format that Mariah Carey’s site has done with getting news from fan websites.
If you’re willing to fork over $885 for a ticket you can see Christina Aguilera (among others) perform live at this year’s Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony. NBC Olympic coverage has released that the ceremony will be on February 24th, 6:00-9:00 at Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium. It will also be televised world-wide with an estimated 3.5 billion viewers.
Pink was on the Howard Stern Show Friday morning and spoke with Howard for about an hour. Pink revealed details of her kiss with Christina Aguilera which she’s saying has caused lesbian and bisexual rumors about the pair ever since. She says that she was just playing Spin the Bottle at her 22nd birthday part and it landed on Christina. Pink says that they would’ve used tongue but Christina didn’t want to only because her boyfriend at the time, Jorge Santos, was there.
There’s a six page article in the magazine ‘Who Weekly’ discussing Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and Mandy Moore’s addiction to shopping and how they spend their millions. According to the article, Christina is the least demanding.
Fans of Christina Aguilera are up in arms over the singer’s official website, Christina-A.com over charges that the webmaster running the site is taking photos from other fansites and putting them on the official one. Some seem to think Christina owns the vidcaps that contain her video but in actuality, it is the companies broadcasting the video that do… Some fans are clamoring to create their own ‘official site’ while others are urging people to settle down on this issue. princess4ever writes, “You guys not this again. Please do not pursue this. Al and Michelle are doing their best and are working on a big Fanorama update. DO NOT PURSUE THIS!!!!”
Shelly Kearns said reports on the LiveDaily message board that Missy Elliot, The Neptunes, or Craig David were going to be featured on her daughter Christina Aguilera’s album are absolutely untrue. As for the sound of the album, Kearns said, “Overall, I wouldn’t call it a ‘heavier’ sound. It’s just a bit more grown up.”
Christina Aguilera’s mother Shelly Kearns today posted a new diary entry on her daughter’s official site addressing tabloid reports about her much publicized illness that the tabloids actually picked up off a previous diary entry. Shelly said, “I’d like to clarify that I am in no way, shape or form bedridden or crippled, or unhealthy in the least.” Kearns added, “What is disturbing is that even the more respectable media ran with this rumor, without any of them ever picking up a phone to call us to try to verify the story.” Shelly also talked about her thoughts on September 11 and how the world reacted to the tragedy.
MTV reports Christina Aguilera and *NSYNC will perform during the Games’ closing ceremonies in Salt Lake City on February 24. Also performing at the University Of Utah stadium will be Bon Jovi, Harry Connick Jr., Josh Groban, and Charlotte Church. Probably better to just watch on TV as tickets for the ceremony range between $320 and $885.
