Christina Aguilera performed a medley of hits on ‘The Early Show’ on Friday (June 21), talking afterward with co-anchor Julie Chen about the inspiration for her new electronic dance album and her upcoming film ‘Burlesque’. “It’s really fun,” Aguilera said. “I got in touch with my initial pop roots and wanted to make a fun record with an electronic and sophisticated twist.” Watch the segment via cnet.com below the cut. Christina Aguilera appeared on the ‘Today’ show Toyota Concert Series at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City on Tuesday (June 8). The pop singer performed ‘Fighter’, ‘Bionic’, ‘Not Myself Tonight’ and ‘Beautiful’. Christina spoke with Matt Lauer about being inspired by electronica while listening to the music with her baby son Max, how he inspired a playful side of her, and being so excited about her new movie ‘Burlesque’. In a web only feature, Aguilera revealed how after having her son she felt “more bionic than ever” and dished about wanting to expand her family. Watch the performances and interview at YouTube. Christina Aguilera checked in with fans discussing her work with The World Food Programme. The pop singer, set to release her new album ‘Bionic’ next Tuesday, writes:
Food should not be a luxury. I met children in Haiti who would have nothing to eat if it weren’t for the World Food Programme. Watch a video from my trip and join me. You can change a child’s life!
Christina Aguilera is postponing her summer tour until next year, citing her busy schedule in preparing her new album ‘Bionic’ and the film ‘Burlesque’. Live Nation, the tour’s promoter, announced in a statement: “The singer felt she needed more time to rehearse the show and with less than a month between the album release and tour date this wasn’t possible.”
‘Bionic’ will be released by RCA on June 8th, while the musical ‘Burlesque’ is scheduled to come out in November.
Could the troubling radio spins for her new album’s first single ‘Not Myself Tonight’ have played a factor? The single lost over 60% of its spins in a week and fell from a peak chart position of 14 to 38 on Mediabase’s Top 40 list (the song has fallen out of the Top 40 list as of this morning’s update).
Christina Aguilera went straight to work in her new role as Ambassador Against Hunger of the World Food Programme (WFP), by visiting Haiti last week. “I was so moved by the devastation in Haiti but also by the spirit of its people. I met young mothers who live in tents in camps and who just want to make sure they can feed their children. The only food they get now is from the World Food Programme,” Aguilera said in a press release. “The children I visited in the schools were so happy to get rice and beans from WFP. They have such joy and are eager to learn despite the destruction around them. The children deserve a chance – and I want to make sure they get a chance. I urge everyone to go to www.wfp.org/christina and donate so we can bring food to these mothers and children and help them rebuild their lives.”

Christina Aguilera is out with the music video to her new single ‘Not Myself Tonight’, the first release from the American pop singer’s fourth full-length album ‘Bionic’, out June 4th via RCA Records. “I’m more confident and comfortable in my own skin,” Christina said about the Hype Williams directed video. “I think I’m even a more sexual Christina.” Watch it via YouTube below.
Famed songwriter Claude Kelly is jumping to the defense of Christina Aguilera over claims she’s copying Lady Gaga’s style with her upcoming album ‘Bionic’. “That’s crap to me… it’s really bullsh**,” Kelly explained to Vibe.com. “Christina Aguilera has been around for over 10 years now. As far as pop goes, she is the defining voice of today’s music. She can do things with her voice that I haven’t heard anybody else do. She’s constantly reinventing herself. As fans, as soon as an album is done and an artist disappears for a while, we tend to write them off as over or no longer relevant.”
