No Rumors For Clay Aiken To Clear Up, Except Why He Went Blonde

May 7, 2008 – Clay tells OK! magazine he has no rumors he wants to clear up, including that long speculated and much discussed one about his sexual preference. “At this point everyone knows everything,” the ‘American Idol’ season two runner-up explained. “I had a fan a few years ago say ‘I know everything about you except for what your favorite color is.’ In that case, I’m never telling anyone my favorite color. I’ve stuck to it for five years – no one knows. For the most part, people know quite a bit. After five years, people have figured out as much as there is to know.”

As Aiken nears his 30th birthday, he did hint at why he decided to go blonde. “I don’t really know why we did this,” he laughed. “With the dark hair, I felt I was looking old. Clay Aiken Won’t Tour This Summer

Instead, the 29-year-old will be enjoying the summer back home in North Carolina. “We’re not touring actually,” Aiken tells “I have not had two days off in a row since I don’t know when. I know since September, between the Christmas tour, and then I did a UNICEF trip to Mexico, I came straight from there to New York to do rehearsals for ‘Spamalot’. I’m in ‘Spamalot’ until May 4 and then I’ll take the fifth off and then from then on we’ll be promoting the new album for a few weeks straight. But after that, I’m going to sit down for a little bit.”

Aiken continued, “I’m going to just sit. To be honest, I haven’t had any time off in the summer in five years. There was the ‘Idol’ tour, and then I toured on my own the next two years straight. The three years after that I have been steadily on the road during the summer. I’m interested in seeing what North Carolina’s like during the summer. I’ve forgotten.”

Dr. Stanley described how he came into contact with the singer, who is set to join the cast of the Tony award-winning musical ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot’ in the role of Sir Robin on Friday (January 18). “Clay contacted me right after he landed a booking on the Jimmy Kimmel show,” Dr. Stanley explained. “It was only five days before his appearance and he really wanted a new smile before the show.” Though the procedure would have taken up to three weeks to complete normally, having an office equipped with cutting-edge technology helped speed up the task. “We only had three days from start to finish, but we are set-up to accommodate busy patients in Clay’s situation, whether they are local or from out-of-town. So, our lab in California was not surprised to hear my request and agreed to go on 24-hour call to help me help Clay.”

Aiken said afterwards, “It was a great experience. Dr. Stanley fit me in at the very last-minute and provided me with a wonderful new smile. It was really more of a spa experience than a dental appointment. Although I live in Raleigh, I know that Dr. Stanley has a program for out-of-town patients who want to come in for a long weekend and go home with a beautiful new smile.”

Clay Aiken Joins ‘Spamalot’ On Broadway Beginning Friday

January 15, 2008 – Clay is joining the Tony award-winning musical ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot’ in the role of Sir Robin, kicking off at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre on West 44th Street beginning Friday. Aiken will continue his run through May 4th.

We’re lucky to get him for ‘Spamalot’!”

Clay Aiken Blasts Newsweek In Contenious Interview

Clay did issue a statement in July explaining what happened. “While sleeping on a plane over the weekend, my foot evidently found a home on the arm rest of the passenger seated directly in front of me,” Aiken said in the statement. “I didn’t realize I was causing the woman any distress until she woke me up with a quick hit to the chest. Unfortunately, being that this happened on a plane, the FBI was called in to investigate and eventually we were all sent on our way. I’d like to thank everyone for their concern; I’m fine and have taken steps to prevent any foot wandering in the future.”

Setoodeh then asked Aiken about the incident with ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’ host Kelly Ripa, where Aiken, who was serving as a guest host in place of Regis Philbin, forcefully covered her mouth in order to get a question in. Kelly was not happy with Clay’s actions, and said, “I don’t know where that hand has been.” That remark prompted Rosie O’Donnell, then host of ‘The View’, to brand her remark homophobic. Aiken again said, “I’m not going to discuss it” to both the incident and the Rosie remark that it was homophobic, telling Setoodeh, “I think we’re done.”

Aiken then proceeded to take a few shots at the marquee news publication. “I thought Newsweek would be more reputable. I’m surprised,” he said, adding, “It was a year ago. This is Newsweek. It’s not the National Enquirer. I’d hate to have a job where I had to be rude to people.”

Clay Aiken Reacts To Press Coverage Of In-Flight Incident

‘American Idol’ season two runner-up Clay Aiken has posted the following message at his official fan club site in reaction to media coverage of his in-flight incident over the weekend:

Slow news day…

Well, I think the title of this blog is QUITE an understatement!

Never mind the children of Afghanistan, who got ZERO help from the media after UNICEF appealed for interest in that story.

Thank God for Entertainment Tonight! They were the only major outlet at all to care about the needs of those kids!If I were the desperate and threatened children of northern Uganda, who also have gotten almost no attention from the press (again, with the same exception of ET), I would be upset and dismayed that a stupid celebrity non-story is the top story on most news sites today. Meanwhile, at this very moment in northern Uganda, over forty thousand children are sleeping in city streets to protect themselves from being raped and tortured, yet no one mentions them.

Then again, as much as the media seems to screw up the actual facts in a situation, maybe they’re better off anyway.

When the flight landed, the FBI was called because the flight attendant had said that Mr. Aiken was belligerent. All passengers were questioned. We heard nothing of a passenger who assaulted Mr. Aiken. In fact, it was Mr. Aiken and his ego that had the crew concerned and the Captain wanted the police at the gate on arrival into Tulsa. The woman in the picture is the supposed fan who bothered Mr. Aiken. Doesn’t look like she could hurt a fly.” Read more and check out the images here.
