David Archuleta updated fans on his Twitter (@davidarchie) on Tuesday night (March 30) after witnessing a marriage proposal. The ‘American Idol’ alum writes:

So I ended up singing for the couple lol. It was nice.
David Archuleta says he’s written about 20 songs so far for his next album while working with singer songwriter Joy Williams and others on the project. The ‘American Idol’ alum says while he’d love to have more hit singles, being able to convey his personality through his music is more important to him. “So many people know who I am and say they’re fans and don’t know I have an album out, even,” he tells USA Today. “People are still fans, and it’s interesting, because it’s not even because of my music. I want people to say, ‘I appreciate what David’s trying to do, in that he tries his best to be who he is and keep doing what he’s doing, and that shows in his music. I can see him and feel him in his music. I can see his personality, and I can see what he believes in and what’s important to him.'”
The Los Angeles Times spoke with David Archuleta in a Q&A, asking the ‘American Idol’ season seven runner-up about whether any current artists have helped inspire him as his second album has come together. The 19-year-old responded:
Jason Mraz, A Fine Frenzy, Owl City, Imogen Heap… those are some of my favorite artists. I love how Imogen gets you thinking and her music paints all these pictures in your mind. Owl City too, the weird abstractness makes all these colors and images come to life in your head. I love it when a song can do that. I don’t wanna get too abstract about it, but I want people to have a good time with the music and for it to match my personality. That’s kind of the goal right now, which is still kind of difficult because I’m still figuring out what exactly I want to do.

David Archuleta checked in with fans on his official web site’s blog moments ago, discussing his time in Guatemala this week. The ‘American Idol’ season seven runner-up writes:
So I’ve been in Central America for the week! It’s been so great! I was in Guatemala for my first time during the beginning of the week, and I just landed in Honduras today which is where my mom is from! So I am amongst the people that make up the other half of my blood. After landing, we went straight to visit some of my mom’s family and got to spend time with them. It was great! And we’ve been having baleadas to eat! Which is a native dish here that is sort of like a burrito haha. I don’t remember if I mentioned this before but my mom is actually down here with me, and it’s been awesome having her here.
If you were wondering why I’m down here, it is because I was invited to come down and see what an organization called Enterprise Mentors was all about. It’s an organization that helps families who struggle with poverty become self-reliant and make a living.
