Brian McFadden is responding to reports that his relationship with Delta Goodrem is on the skids in postings at his Twitter (@BrianMcnugget). The former Westlife star also put in a good word for Kyle Sandilands, who was sacked as a judge on ‘Australian Idol’ and received a suspension along with Jackie O. from Austereo following their morning show lie detector test that had a 14-year-old girl revealing she had been raped at the age of 12. McFadden writes:
For the record Delta and I may be having a sad time with deaths and other stuff but we are still madly in love and happier than ever!
Don’t always believe cheap magazines who love to make up stories. Delta and I just had a great holiday in Bali…. TOGETHER!
AND finally… long live KING KYLE.. Pathetic treatment all around from a country he has entertained for years… Your loss!
Brian McFadden tells the Herald Sun plans for him and Delta Goodrem to have a Christmas wedding have been put on hold due to their work schedules. “We were sitting down to try and organize the wedding and we were thinking ‘we’re never going to get this wedding organized by Christmas’,” McFadden explained. “I know if we don’t get married everyone is going to say there are problems because we pushed the wedding back. But we want to get married and take a nice block of time off, like three months, enjoy our families being there and have a nice honeymoon, not get married between gigs.”
After Perez Hilton claimed Delta Goodrem was a smoker after meeting the Australian singer, the 23-year old’s mother Lea Goodrem insisted the gossip guru was mistaken. “Perez has got that wrong. That’s never, ever been the case and likely never will be. It’s just not Delta,” Lea tells the Courier Mail. “Even prior to (battling cancer) she wouldn’t even consider smoking. She’s a singer and values her voice. Some people around her smoke, but not Delta. She doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink. It’s just not her thing.”
Apparently, the cigarettes that Perez saw were not Delta’s, but were her makeup artist’s smokes. “I know that some singers do smoke but she is not one of them,” the rep insisted.
Delta Goodrem is set to release her U.S. debut CD ‘Delta’ on July 15th via Mercury/Decca. The first single will be ‘In This Life’. “The sentiment in songs is so important to me,” the Australian singer said in a press release. “It’s got the melody that rings in your ear, but I can also belt it out. It’s got all the elements I could hope to be introduced with.”
Another track on the album is ‘Possessionless’, which the 23-year-old wrote the song shortly after winning her battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2003. “Hard times are universal. Good times are universal,” Goodrem said. “I’ve learned how powerful music can be to people, how you just want to get lost in music. That’s a really special connection with people that isn’t disposable. I like the idea of starting in America with a clean slate. I’m looking forward to singing my heart out.”
The Sydney Morning Herald reports Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden, who had hoped to marry later this year, announced that they are pushing back their wedding to 2009 as Brian supports his second solo album ‘Set In Stone’ and Delta attempts to crack the U.S. music market. “Next year’s the wedding,” the former Westlife star said. “We’ve had three years together every single day, and I think that whole three years was preparing for this year apart. It’s been hard but because we’re so prepared for it we knew we’d just work hard this year and try to set up the rest of our life.” Read more.

Delta Goodrem visited the Hot30 Countdown on 2Day FM in Sydney the other day, where she talked about gearing up for the ARIAs and the time she fell on stage and embarrassed herself. They also brought out the “Dare or Dare” wheel and gave the singer a choice – to kiss DJ Biggzy on the mouth or pick a fight with her boyfriend, former Westlife member Brian McFadden. Delta called a sleepy Brian and had a difficult time picking the fight. Video at 2dayfm.com.au has since been removed.
