Gavin DeGraw talked about him and his crew getting into a fight on Sunday night (July 12). The singer songwriter says on his Twitter (@Gavin_DeGraw):
Me and my crew just got in a 20 man brawl with a group of juiced up assholes. I guess they think that just cos I write love songs that I won’t throw down like a man. They were slow and drunk, but that whooping is gonna hurt worse than their hangovers. Goodnight to those douches!
@heavnlydevl absolutely correct. You’re never too old to get disciplined. My boys showed up to protect after they threw the first cheap shot
They blind punched dean from Collective Soul first. Then tried to tag me. Big and slow and too aggressive.
Gavin DeGraw checked in from a car driving through Switzerland while on tour, thanking fans coming to the shows in Europe and apologizing the those in Paris show that got canceled. DeGraw said they were returning to the U.S. in a couple days to continue touring.
“We are in Switzerland, had some chocolate,” Gavin said holding up a piece of chocolate. “We’re on our way from Lucerne to Zurich, and I just want to thank all of my fans out here. We’ve had a great tour of Europe, and also to apologize to my fans in Paris who were on their way to the show and found out that I cancelled. It was supposed to be tomorrow, so I apologize about that. This just got a little complicated and I don’t know where, but I promise it was someone else’s fault (laughs).”

‘Today’ show co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford talk to singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw about his recent trip to a refugee camp in Uganda and his new album ‘Free’. “This particular record, I didn’t want to sit around and try to perfect it,” DeGraw said of the CD recorded in two weeks. “What I wanted to do is more importantly capture the discovery elements of the performances. Putting together musicians who I didn’t typically play with, who were fabulous musicians, who I heard of, who I met before, who I respected, and all of us sort of find our way on this recording.” Watch the segment, aired Monday (April 20), below.

Footage of Gavin DeGraw in the studio working on ‘Stay’ and discussing his new album has been posted online. The song is the first release from the singer songwriter’s third album ‘Free’.
“It’s just a bit more earthy,” DeGraw says of the CD, “and not quite as commercial sounding as the other records were that I was making. A lot of that has to do with the sound of the room and the way we’re recording it. The gear. We’re not spending so much time on the album too so we’ll try to avoid overthinking, performing it closer to what a performance would be live, but also keeping in mind the effect you want to have on the audience. We’re keeping that in mind here in the studio. The type of tour you want to take your listeners on. This is a much vibe-ier project than usual. I love the sound we’re getting.”

Gavin DeGraw’s latest webisode at his MySpace TV channel is titled “The Band”, which he talks about playing with other musicians.
“You try to give them the initial feeling of the song, as you design it,” DeGraw explained. “They’re gonna bring their interpretation of what they got from how you made them feel when you play it for them for the first time. So it’s important when you play the song the first time you really give them the sensation that the song is designed to give.”
The video features DeGraw and his band in the studio working on the songs ‘Stay’ and ‘Mountains To Move’, both off his new album ‘Free’, out March 31st.
