The Mirror reports Girls Aloud are in trouble with their record company after ignoring a ban on partying. Four of the five girls — Sarah Harding preferred a quiet night — had a night out in Chinawhite, London, on Wednesday without telling Polydor. The label had given them strict instructions to stay in while recording their album, especially after Cheryl Tweedy’s recent brawl with a toilet attendant at The Drink nightclub in Surrey.

The Sun reports Chris Cowey, boss at Top of the Pops, says ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ winners Girls Aloud cannot sing and dance at the same time. “We had a big debate about live bands when Girls Aloud mimed on our Christmas special – though they were #1,” he said. “The boys were nervous but they sang live, while the girls wanted to focus on their dance routines, so they didn’t. We recorded the vocals in the afternoon. Then they mouthed the words so they could do their little dance, leaning over the microphones. I always ask acts to sing live. If people watching think artists are miming, then they can draw their own conclusions. It doesn’t matter if they hit a few bum notes. I think fans appreciate live performances.”

‘Popstars: The Rivals’ girl group Girls Aloud have continued to dominate the charts this week topping the list with ‘Sound of the Underground’ while their rival boy band One True Voice dropped to number five with ‘Sacred Trust’. The Sun reports Girls Aloud were devastated last night after learning their tour manager, John McMahon, was killed in a Christmas Day car crash. Their ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ manager Louis Walsh said, “I only found out two hours ago and I am very sad. I only knew John through his work with Girls Aloud but I really liked him. He was a lovely bloke and very professional. We wanted to work on other projects together. The girls all liked him. I’ve just got off the phone to Nadine. She’s totally shocked and upset.” Read more.
