James Morrison Feeling Pleased & Fortunate After Brit Nominations

James Morrison updated fans from Los Angeles on his blog at MySpace (@jamesmorrisonmusic) on Thursday (January 22), where the British singer songwriter was about to appear on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’. The 24-year-old tells readers:

So, I’m here in LA, on tour with the wonderful Adele. It’s a lovely 18 degrees and there’s a nice breeze in the air. We just arrived from Chicago and Minneapolis where it was minus 10 and snowy, so this is a nice change.

Today I’m doing the ‘Ellen’ TV show and we’re playing ‘Nothing Ever Hurt Like You’. We’ve got a great set up including 3 brass players from the amazing Nika De Costa’s band. They’re so good.

I’ve just been told that I am one of the nominees for the Best Male category at The Brits this year. I’m really pleased about that. When I won a couple of years ago I had a fantastic time. I’m so glad that I’m still fortunate enough to be doing what I’m doing, playing music and travelling the world, and to be nominated again is amazing. I’m delighted that everyone seems to be enjoying the album, and ‘Broken Strings’ being such a big hit has given me a great start to the year.

James Morrison Loves Tokyo… Denver, Not So Much

James Morrison

James Morrison discusses his travels in an interview with The Observer. Asked about his favorite city, the British singer songwriter replied: “Tokyo – because it’s so different from anywhere else. We were there for Halloween, so my keyboard player and I got these revealing dog costumes that left little to the imagination and went out drinking. We got talking to a couple of Power Rangers and a robot over tequilas at the bar.”

But the 24-year-old was disappointed with Denver, Colorado. “It was so barren you could almost see the tumbleweed rolling through the streets,” Morrison explained. “There was nothing there except a snooker hall about a mile away. When we walked in everyone stared at us as if we were aliens.”

James Morrison Kicks Off Tour In Norwich

James Morrison updated fans on his blog at MySpace (@jamesmorrisonmusic) on Monday (November 17), after performing the first date in support of his new album ‘Songs for You, Truths for Me’ at the University of East Anglia on Sunday night in Norwich, England. The singer songwriter tells readers:

So, back on tour, it’s been a while. First date was Norwich UEA, a venue I’d played 2 years ago but returning made it feel like yesterday. A really good gig, nice and sweaty, not too big.

I was really nervous because it was the first one and Martin Harley had played a great set to open the night.

The crowd were really up for it and there was a great mix of people… even though there were two really tall guys with beards who looked really intense.

Anyway, I think everyone loved it.

I managed to forget some of the lyrics but everyone seemed to find it as funny as I did, so no harm done.
