Jennifer Lopez talked to JoJo Wright of 102.7 KIIS FM in Los Angeles about her world tour, favorite stops in South America, what was behind her decision not to do a third season of ‘American Idol’ and what fans can expect from her greatest hits album ‘Dance Again… the Hits’.
On it being her first worldwide tour, Lopez said, “It’s something that I’ve never done. It’s something I’ve talked about so many times and we kind of lined up and tried to do, but always some movie would come up or it would take too much time and I couldn’t take that much time out, because a world tour, this is what I’ve been working on all year. I won’t be done until December, so that was a real time commitment and choice I had to make and I just never had the opportunity to do it before. This year I said you know what, especially now with Twitter and Facebook and you get that interaction with the fans and they tell you what they want, and one of the biggest things was when are you gonna tour? When are you gonna do a world tour? When are you gonna come see your fans over here in Europe and Asia and Australia. I was like whoa, this is something that I have to do so I decided you know what, this is the year.”
On her stops in South America on tour, J.Lo said, “I loved going all throughout South America. We had amazing shows. I think a couple that stand out were an amazing show in Chile and a killer show in Brazil. It was pouring rain and outdoors. The footage from that concert, I was just looking at it a couple of days ago, the energy and honestly it was a torrential hurricane out there, they didn’t care, I didn’t care. We were jumping up and down and singing in the rain.”
Talking about ‘American Idol’ and reports she could still come back to the show, Lopez said, “Here’s what happened, we talked about it, they asked me back, which I loved that they wanted me back, and it would have been my third year on ‘Idol’. When I originally signed up, I signed up for the one year. I fell in love with it and wound up doing it two years. When this third time came around, I was like you know what guys, I think it’s time for me to get back to doing what I do. It takes up so much of your time, and I loved it, but judging is not what I do. I’m a performer, I’m an actress and a singer. I’m an entrepreneur and I do all of these other things and it takes up so much time I realized I can’t, as much as I loved it and enjoyed that journey and I loved the that family we created over there, it was really time for me to move on.”

Jennifer Lopez phoned in to Chicago’s 103.5 Kiss FM the other day to talk with DJ Brotha Fred about her tour with Enrique Iglesias. Lopez shared how she and Enrique decided who would headline, what she calls her boyfriend Casper Smart, her decision to leave ‘American Idol’, Mariah Carey signing on to replace her, if she’d read the book ’50 Shades of Grey’ and that incident where Casper walked into a gay peep show on accident, intending to go into a barbershop next door. The Carey questions prompted some nervous J.Lo laughter given her strained relationship with the fellow singer and Carey’s 2001 meltdown.
On “fighting for stage time with Enrique”:
We were fighting at first because I wanted to open, and he wanted open. I wanted to be done early so i could go and get the babies to sleep early and stuff like that.
On her boyfriend’s name:
You know his name is Beau but people call him Casper.
On ‘American Idol':
Yeah, it’s pretty done. I mean I had a great time doing ‘Idol’ and I’m gonna miss it. I was flattered that they asked me back and wanted me back, and I was close to going back on many levels, but at the end of the day I just knew it was time to kind of get back to what I do, touring, doing music again, doing movies, and all that. When you do ‘Idol’ it really does put you on hold for a second.
On if Mariah Carey could keep sane for a whole season:
(Laughs) I’m sure she’ll be fine. It will be a lot of fun. She’ll enjoy it.
On Brotha Fred’s desire to have J.Lo say Mariah’s crazy:
(Laughs) That’s not my place to say anything. I just always wish everybody the best.
On Casper going into a gay peep show on accident:
He was looking for a barbershop and walked in the wrong door and caused this whole thing, but I’m not even gonna put any energy into it. We know who we are.

Jennifer Lopez spoke with Cubby Bryant of 103.5 KTU in New York City the other night, talking about her decision to exit ‘American Idol’ as a judge as news broke that Mariah Carey would be her replacement on the hit FOX show. Lopez talked about touring’s role in the decision, how the show has a tendency to lock people down for awhile, advice she’d give to potential replacements, the biggest surprise about being part of the show and how she shares a belief in hard work with Ryan Seacrest.
On whether her tour played a part:
All of it played a part. There’s a lot of moving parts to my life, to my kids to all the other businesses I have, to movies, to singing, to touring.
On ‘Idol’ locking her down:
I love the show, and I love doing the show, but this is what I do. I did it for two years and I kind of put things on hold for a while. Then you go, am I going to do this again or am I gonna get back to what I do, and I had to get back to what I do.
On advice she’d give to potential replacements, such as Mary J. Blige:
I would say yes Mary, you should do it, because I know her personality and I know that she loves music. That’s a big part of it, loving music and loving artists. I would tell her the good things and the tough things about it, which is it will lock you down for a little while and you won’t be able to do everything that you always do, but it’s a great experience.
The biggest surprise about doing ‘Idol':
The biggest surprise was how much I loved it. How much I really became attached. I literally cried the day that I made the decision not to come back, like I’m really not gonna do it this time. I was kind of going back and forth a little while about the decision, and then I knew it was the right thing to do. I knew I had to get back to what I did. It was painful because I just grew to love everybody there, and I loved the experience of the show. The behind the scenes people as well as Randy (Jackson), Ryan (Seacrest), Steven (Tyler), the kids.

Jennifer Lopez called Wendy Wild of 103.5 KTU in New York City recently to talk about her single with Pitbull ‘Dance Again’, its music video, plans for a new album, ‘American Idol’ and her role in the movie ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’.
On finding time for all her projects:
I just take it one day at a time. The kids come first and everything else kind of falls into line after that. I have a lot of help, I have to say, but I love doing what I do. I’ll be in the studio late at night doing the music stuff, and in the day doing the other stuff, little by little.
Working with Pitbull:
I had been in the studio and it just started off. I wasn’t planning on putting anything out this soon, but I felt like being in the studio and people sending me stuff, then I heard this track, a very demo track from RedOne, actually that Enrique Iglesias had worked on and sent to me. I thought wow, there’s something about this song. Really something about it. I was like can I tweak the words a little bit. I really made it my own and it just came together. I love Red and I think he really gets me. When I was done with it, I sent it to Pit and said what do you think? Do you want to get on this? He said dale!
On a new album or compilation:
We talked about doing a greatest hits for awhile, and it’s something that’s still on the table, but I don’t know, because I have a bunch of songs that could turn into an album. I’m not sure yet.
On the video:
It’s definitely a beautiful, sexy video with dancing in it and stuff like that. I think it goes with the song and the message in the song for me, which is that you will dance again and you will love again and you will go on. It’s just one of those songs that is great for people going through tough times. With the year that I’ve had, you know, kind of intense, it was the perfect song to bring me out of that period.
