‘The Joy Behar Show’ discussed how Jennifer Lopez is attempting to stop her ex-husband Ojani Noa from releasing sexy videos taken during their short marriage with a panel that included AOL PopEater columnist Rob Shuter, actress and founder of the Diva Foundation Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph, and comedian Carey Reilly. “Once they divorced and she became quite famous, she made him sign a confidentiality clause,” Shuter explained. “So, this is on to that clause. The judging panel for the 10th season of ‘American Idol’ has been announced, and ‘Idol’ host Ryan Seacrest was first to interview the new trio comprised of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and returning judge Randy Jackson. They were also joined by new ‘Idol’ mentor and chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, Jimmy Iovine. Tyler, Lopez, Jackson and Iovine discussed their judging styles, what they’ll look for in contestants and what they enjoy about each other.
“I think, innately you can’t help but want to give them tough love in a sense,” J.Lo said about what contestants can expect from her. “I don’t think I could ever be cruel to another artist because I am an artist and I know what it’s like to put yourself out there, be in front of people and say, ‘Hey, do you like me?’” Watch the interview via YouTube below.
PopEater’s Rob Shuter reports that when Elton John and Barry Manilow turned down a chance to replace Simon Cowell on ‘American Idol’, show bosses eyed artists who were on the downswing in their careers, turning to Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Lopez. While ‘Idol’ apparently preferred Jessica, it was her meddling dad Joe who got in the way, clearing the way for J.Lo to swoop in to get the job on the hit FOX show. “This was definitely Jessica’s to lose and that’s exactly what her dad-manager did,” an insider revealed. “Once it became clear it was going to be impossible to negotiate a deal with papa Joe, J.Lo was snapped up. Convinced being on the show would relaunch her performing career, she accepted the new job right away.” Read more.
Stars Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Lopez and Estelle remembered Michael Jackson a year after the King of Pop’s death at the age of 50. “I mean just as a performer, anybody that does what we do, sings and dances – is an entertainer, looks up to him because he did it at such a high level,” J.Lo said with husband Marc Anthony by her side. “Everybody’s like, ‘I wanna be Michael Jackson.’ I wanna dance like that. I wanna sing like that. I want my music to be as effective and touching as that and make people dance like that. He was that person. That entertainer.”
