While ‘Idol’ apparently preferred Jessica, it was her meddling dad Joe who got in the way, clearing the way for J.Lo to swoop in to get the job on the hit FOX show. “This was definitely Jessica’s to lose and that’s exactly what her dad-manager did,” an insider revealed. “Once it became clear it was going to be impossible to negotiate a deal with papa Joe, J.Lo was snapped up. Jessica Simpson Talks With David Letterman About Ex-Boyfriends

March 12, 2010 – Jessica Simpson spilled the beans about her relationships with Tony Romo and during an appearance on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ on Wednesday night. When Dave asked about Mayer’s headlining making interview with Playboy magazine, where he compared the singer to “sexual napalm”, Jess said, “Normally you’d think someone you care about would keep those details to himself. It was definitely a compliment, in a way. I don’t really want people to know that about me. I’m like the good girl, then that happened.”

The interview video on the CBS show’s YouTube channel has since been removed.

The 35-year-old talked about how great it is his girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo is as much of a sports fan as he is. “In fact, football night often becomes date night, which is a nice combo for me,” the Cincinnati native said. “She’s down to hang out and go to the game. So it’s definitely something we agree on.”

While expecting their first child, Ashlee Simpson and husband Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy were concerned how their aggressive, but beloved, English bulldog Hemingway would react when the baby arrived. The couple hoped a canine companion might help, but when 5-month-old English bulldog Rigby joined the budding family, Hemingway’s dog aggression escalated. As Ashlee’s due date rapidly approached, Cesar Millan of National Geographic’s ‘Dog Whisperer’ was called in to help the create a balanced environment that will be safe for their newborn.

Jessica Simpson spoke with People magazine about her sister Ashlee Simpson giving birth to Bronx Mowgli Wentz on Thursday night. “Bronx is beyond precious. I’m over the moon with joy,” aunt Jessica said Friday. “Life is a beautiful miracle. Ashlee and Pete are healthy, happy, and enjoying every moment.”

The singing sisters’ parents Joe and Tina Simpson also issued a statement on the baby news Friday. “We can’t wait to spend Bronx’s first holidays together with the whole family,” they said. “We are truly blessed.”

Simpson also said the idea that she and Romo would marry is definitely a possibility. “I think any person who I’m gonna date for longer than six months, I definitely am investing in something long-term,” she explained. “If I get married again, then it will be the last time.”

September 4, 2008 – Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson were spotted leaving Beso in Hollywood the other night. Ashlee emerged from the celeb hotspot first, joined by a couple female friends.

After getting to her SUV, the pesky paps hosed her as a restaurant employee pleaded, “C’mon guys, let her drive.” Then Jessica emerged with her hairstylist Ken Paves. They peppered her with questions about Carrie Underwood in an attempt to get a rise out of the newly country singer. Acting a bit like Paris Hilton, Ken put on her new album ‘Do You Know’ as Jessica sang along to it.

July 31, 2008 – Jessica Simpson dresses up in country attire on the September issue of Elle magazine, where the singer discusses her previous relationship with John Mayer, and current one with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

“John believed in the Jessica Simpson that’s within,” Simpson said of Mayer. “He cherished our love. He helped make me the woman I am today. John is going to be an amazing man for someone, but I know that I was supposed to be with someone else.”

As for Romo, Simpson remarked, “Most of the guys I dated were captivated by my heart but they had different ways of trying to get to me. Tony understands me. He appreciates my talent. He’s the first person I’ve spiritually connected with. I’m a girl that loves to be in love. I love love!”

During an appearance on K-FROG 95.1 in Colton, California on Tuesday, talked about transitioning from pop to country music with her new single ‘Come On Over’.

“This is a pivotal moment in my career and my life,” Simpson said. “I feel I’ve kind of stepped over into new territory, but it feels so much at home for me. I really just wanted to showcase the talent that God has given me and I don’t believe that in pop music I ever had the chance to stand on two feet and stand firm and just feel comfortable and really just use what God has given me. Through country music and with the lyrics and it’s okay to do a ballad and it could be played on the radio, it doesn’t really happen in the pop world.”
