The Food Network’s ‘Everyday Italian’ host Giada De Laurentiis is slamming a report in Star magazine that claimed she and singer John Mayer had an affair. Giada has a two-year-old daughter with husband and Anthropologie designer Todd Thompson. The statement on her web site reads:

It is a shame a media outlet such as Star needs to rely on disgraceful lies and hide behind false anonymous “sources” in order to entertain their readers. When the Star reporter approached Giada De Laurentiis on Sunday, while she was co-hosting a children’s cancer fundraiser, Giada responded unequivocally that she did not see John Mayer when she was in New York for the Food and Wine Festival. Furthermore, contrary to the claims of an anonymous “source”, at no time did Giada step foot in the Gansevoort Hotel. Giada indeed met John Mayer briefly at a charity event in 2007 but has not seen him since. To be clear, they are not friends and cannot even go so far as to call John Mayer an acquaintance. There is not a sliver of truth to Star magazine’s story. It is unfortunate Star would publish these malicious untruths without reporting the fact that Giada was with her husband Todd that weekend in New York, along with their family and friends. Giada De Laurentiis and her family deserve an apology and we demand an immediate retraction.

Giada also wrote on her Facebook:

I’m heartbroken this morning to find out how MALICIOUS the tabloids can be… I’ve been linked to John Mayer in NY last month…. I haven’t seen him since 2007!!!!

John Mayer is reacting to news that 17-year-old Micayla Patterson died when the truck she was riding in was hit near downtown Tulsa after attending Mayer’s concert. John writes:

I’m sitting in my dressing room in Houston, having just read this terrible news. My heart and thoughts go out to Micayla’s family and her friends. This is just awful. Every night, over the course of two hours I come to care very deeply for every face in the crowd, and somewhere in that glance out over the audience for my final bow is the hope and the prayer that everyone gets home safely and carries out awesome, bright, beautiful lives. This won’t soon leave my mind, and tonight’s show is dedicated to Micayla’s memory as well as wishing for a quick recovery for the two other passengers injured.

I’m sending love tonight to everyone in Springdale.

John Mayer was dishing advice to his Twitter followers (@johncmayer) early Friday (September 3). The singer songwriter tells readers:

We all have a congenital hole in our heart. It comes down to how we go about filling it that matters.

Sit at your Tandy computer at the end of each night and write a wistful journal entry.

Keep your window unlocked to allow your diminutive Italian neighbor friend to enter at all times.

Keep a cork board full of newspaper snippets, especially the one that said you delivered a baby in the mall.

John Mayer is calling out the Huffington Post after the liberal blog speculated he was back together with Jennifer Aniston and had talked with the crowd about believing in second chances. The singer songwriter writes on his One Forty Plus blog:

The reason I’m calling you out instead of all the other magazines that make stories up out of thin air is that In Touch and Star Magazine aren’t concurrently writing pieces about Pat Tillman or WikiLeaks. Those other rags know who they are, and even if they’re obnoxious, I’d rather have to live with them because they (and the rest of the world) know where they stand, which doesn’t make them one tenth as dangerous as you are. You’re a stripper wearing reading glasses. Or maybe you’re an insolvent law student willing to dance for a few extra dollars. Either way, it’s uncomfortable to watch you try to wrap yourself around a pole when you have C-Span scars.
