Katharine McPhee updated fans on her official web site on Monday (June 28) about a project she’s teaming with ConAgra Foods Foundation to help end child hunger in America. The ‘American Idol’ season five runner-up writes:

I am honored to be working with Feeding America and the ConAgra Foods Foundation to launch the Hunger-Free Summer program – to make sure kids at risk of hunger have access to nutritious meals year round. So, while school may be out for summer, lunch is always in session.

This summer I am going to be traveling across the country – from Orlando to Los Angeles – to Feeding America food banks that received grants from the ConAgra Foods Foundation – to volunteer my time, but more importantly, to raise awareness about this important issue.

Katharine McPhee updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Friday (June 18), apologizing for having to cancel her July 13th concert at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The ‘American Idol’ alum writes:

My apologies to all who bought tickets to the Harrisburg, PA show. The show’s cancellation was beyond my control. I am very sorry. Stay tuned, however, for some very exciting news. Love Kat.

Katharine McPhee checked in with her Twitter followers (@katharinemcphee) on Monday (March 1) after The Hollywood Reporter said she has scored the lead role in the NBC TV pilot ‘The Pink House’, where the ‘American Idol’ alum will play Emily. Kat writes:

Guess you all heard about my pilot I got. They didn’t waste one second to share the info!!!! I didn’t even know they released it yet. Haha.

@MelissaNY115 soooooo excited. I had my final network test on Friday and found out Friday night!

Many have asked will I still be doing my tour dates with my music? Heck yeah!!! I love my music and record and can’t wait to do live dates!

Katharine McPhee checked in from backstage at ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien’ earlier this month, where the ‘American Idol’ season five runner-up answered four fan questions, including whether she thinks now that she’s blonde if blondes have more fun, her favorite CD of 2009, how she uses technology to connect with fans, and loving ‘Party in the USA’ by Miley Cyrus.
