Anyway, I am actually on a plane headed to Tulare, CA. I just found out that my band is still in NASHVILLE! HA! Cracks me up. We get delayed SO much, but it always seems to work out…Say a little prayer they make it. They got rerouted through Dallas so I’m nervous. I’ll let you know how it works out.

Speaking of TEXAS….. What about Ike? How are all of you in the gulf? I have been watching CNN religiously (which I am addicted to) the past two days and I am praying for all of you and I hope that you are out of harm’s way and your families are safe. Natural disasters are scary. I went home last year to neighborhoods that had been wiped out and a baby found wondering in the rubble. It’s scary to see and it’s an instant reality check on how precious life is and how blessed we all really are. I hope everyone is safe.

Kimberley Locke checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace tonight, discussing a half marathon she planned to run in San Francisco. “I am sure you are wondering about my marathon in SF,” the ‘American Idol’ season two finalist writes. “I am so embarrassed to say… I OVER SLEPT! Can you believe this? I can’t. I finally got over it and chalked it up as it just wasn’t meant to be. As most of you know I had a show that night at the Performing Arts Center that was so much fun and successful. So maybe that was God’s way of telling me I was trying to do too much. I actually ran my own half marathon yesterday. I was really cranky and tired afterwards. I felt like my body was going to fall apart. Remind me why I am doing this, again?” Read more.

As for me I am working a lot but having some fun along the way,” the ‘American Idol’ season two finalist writes. “I am currently sitting on a flight from Minneapolis to LA. So I thought I would write to you all before I take my nap! Why was I in Minneapolis? I did an event for Campheartland / Oneheartland yesterday. I performed with ANT and Abigail Zsiga who were so much fun! ANT kept us laughing the entire weekend and I think Abigail is the sweetest person I’ve ever met! Unfortunately, it rained and not many people showed up but those who were there had a great time! I must say it was fun for me to see everyone enjoying the show in spite of the weather. I had a blast! Not to mention I love the charity.” Read more.

Kimberley Locke answered several fan questions on her blog at MySpace earlier today, including if there will be a full tour in support of the ‘American Idol’ season two finalist’s album ‘Based on a True Story’. “There will be more dates, but as we’ve discussed, a tour and concerts are on a supply and demand basis,” Locke explained. “Unfortunately, people who book you in their venues look at CD sales and well, while my radio play and press is strong, my albums sales aren’t. I wish I could call any venue and say ‘I want to play there’, but it doesn’t work that way. They have to see that you’ll sell tickets before they book you. I know you’re all concerned that it may seem like I’m not working but we performers do get Private booking or Corporate booking and I’m thrilled that those do come my way. I’m doing some corporate shows for Wella / Sebastian Hair Care. It’s fun! I open the show with Band of Gold with about a dozen dancers and close the show with 8th World Wonder with dancers and models! It’s quite a production. I’m just singing the songs to track but there are a nice handful of dates that will keep me busy. Jennifer Holliday’s doing it too. We’ve only done two so far but I’m hoping to catch dinner with her so we can really talk.”

As for a possible film role, Locke said she had auditioned for movie roles. “I’ve talked about how I auditioned for Effie in ‘Dreamgirls’,” she said. “I don’t think I was right for that part and I ultimately believe it was Jennifer Hudson’s pre-written destiny to play Effie. I’ve been out for other films. Some are still in pre-production and on hold due to the strike so if I’m cast yet, it’s in limbo.” Read more.
