Kina Grannis Performs ‘I Know Who Took The Milk And Cookies’

Kina Grannis performed a holiday song she wrote with Jesse Epstein of The Payphones called ‘I Know Who Took the Milk and Cookies’ for her latest YouTube video. Afterwards, Kina talked about performing a benefit show in January, apologized for being unable to get out CDs or t-shirts in time for Christmas, and wished viewers Happy Holidays.

“I’m back home in Mission Viejo with my family,” Kina said. “I like this time of year. It’s happy.” But not all happy. “For those of you that ordered CD’s or shirts from me as Christmas presents, I’m so sorry,” Kina said. “I’ve been in the studio a ton lately and unfortunately I was unable to get all of them out before Christmas. I’ll be getting it out as soon as I can, but in the interim I have a little substitute gift you can give them. If you go to the link, you can download a little Christmas card and give that in place of the CD’s and t-shirts and they know it’s my fault and not yours.”

Kina Grannis Covers ‘If I Were A Boy’ By Beyonce

Kina Grannis posted an acoustic cover of the Beyonce Knowles release ‘If I Were A Boy’ on her YouTube channel, flubbing up towards the end.

The singer songwriter also plugged her “teeny tiny tour”, with stops in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and St. Louis in late February.

Merch Packaging Day For Kina Grannis

Kina Grannis talks about sending out her merch to fansDecember 9, 2008 - Kina Grannis took a day off from the studio to package up some of her merchandise. The singer songwriter also said since it’s getting “cold” in California at about 70 degrees, she’s bundling up in pajama pants under her skirt and non-matching socks. Her merch room was full of CDs, t-shirts, and envelopes.

“This is a big part of my life,” she said. “When I’m not recording, when I’m not YouTubing, and when I’m not writing songs, I’m most likely parked in my living room packaging these things.” Grannis said her Interscope debut album is “almost done”, but she won’t be able to play anything for fans for a long time.

Kina Grannis Covers ‘The Call’ By Regina Spektor

Kina Grannis posted a cover of ‘The Call’ by Regina Spektor on her YouTube channel. Afterwards, the singer songwriter commented, “I hadn’t heard of that song until recently, someone in the last post requested it, so thank you. I searched it, and I love Regina, but I never heard the song and it’s so pretty.”

“So I’ve been getting a lot of requests to do another tutorial video,” Kina said, “and teach you how to play one of my songs on guitar. Instead of picking a random song, I wanna know what song you guys actually want to learn. Kina Grannis Celebrates 1 Year On YouTube

November 14, 2008 - Kina Grannis updated fans on her YouTube channel, celebrating the 1 year anniversary of her first video posting on the video sharing site, which helped get her song ‘Message From Your Heart’ played during the last Super Bowl and getting a record deal. Kina said she hopes her debut album will be coming out in February or March 2009.

“I wish I could do something more special for you guys today,” Grannis said. “If it weren’t for you I would not be doing the thing that I love, the thing that I’ve wanted to do my entire life. Right now I’m doing it and it’s crazy to me.”

Kina Grannis Covers ‘Don’t Forget’ By Demi Lovato

November 11, 2008 - Kina Grannis posted an acoustic cover of the Demi Lovato song ‘Don’t Forget’ on her YouTube channel. Afterwards, the singer songwriter talked about her first week in the studio last week. “It was super, super exciting,” she said. “Started on a bunch of songs, and this week we’re gonna start bringing in some musicians to lay down drums and viola and stuff like that. Kina Grannis Hits The Studio To Begin Work On Debut CD

November 4, 2008 - Kina Grannis posted an acoustic cover of ‘You’re A God’ by Vertical Herizon on her YouTube channel. Afterwards, the singer songwriter talked about having her first official day in the studio.

“So I actually have a really good reason for my video being late today,” Kina said. “Today was my first official day in the studio. So excited. I’ve been kind of waiting for like 8 million years to make this album. That’s not entirely true, but the last album I put out was like 3 years ago from my garage, and it’s time that I make a real one. It’s pretty crazy. I think for most of November I’ll be in the studio 6 days a week for many, many hours.”

Kina Grannis Nike Women’s Marathon Highlight Video

Kina Grannis gets a kiss after completing a marathonKina Grannis posted highlights from her participation in the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco, thanking fans who donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support the singer songwriter’s efforts with Team in Training.

Kina completing the 26.2 mile trek in 4 hours and 15 minutes and was greeted at the finish line by her family. Grannis said she’ll be running in the LA Marathon too.

Kina Grannis checks in from San Francisco, where she took part in the 2008 Nike Women's Marathon and Half MarathonOctober 19, 2008 - Kina Grannis updated fans on her YouTube channel on Friday (October 17) from San Francisco, ahead of her meet and greet at Starbucks on Saturday and before she took part in the 2008 Nike Women’s Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday. The singer songwriter also showed some of the gifts fans sent her back in August for her 23rd birthday.

“So I’m currently in my hotel in San Francisco for the Nike Women’s Marathon. I can’t believe it’s already now, the time is here. This Sunday at 7 AM the race will start. I got my little tag thingie, so I’m really excited. If you’re in the area, you should come hang out. It’s gonna be a crazy day of hours and hours of running. I decided that since I’m in the area I might as well take the opportunity to say hello to some San Franciscans, if that’s a word. I will be hanging out at a Starbucks tomorrow from 1-2:30 and I would love more than anything to say hi to some people. If you’re in the area or want to make a field trip, come by.”

Kina Grannis Covers ‘Disturbia’ By Rihanna

Kina Grannis posted a cover of the Rihanna hit ‘Disturbia’ over at her YouTube page.

“A little different, but I figured I haven’t got weird on you in awhile,” Kina said of the cover. She added that because of all her marathon training, she’s going to lose two of her toenails.

After watching the serial killer drama ‘Dexter’, Kina said she felt like someone broke into her apartment at 3 AM, paralyzing her in fear. “No one tried to kill me,” she said. “Someone could have been there, I don’t know.”

Kina Grannis Covers ‘Naked As We Came’ By Iron And Wine

Kina Grannis posted a cover of ‘Naked As We Came’ by Iron and Wine on her YouTube channel. Afterwards, the singer talked about her benefit concert at USC for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on September 20th. She also said she’s been training for a marathon also for LLS, raising money for cancer research and patient care. “I’m running this in honor of my mom who’s diagnosed with a rare blood disease about 8 years ago,” Grannis explained. Kina Grannis Performs ‘No Matter’

August 27, 2008 - Kina Grannis’ latest YouTube video features the singer songwriter performing the original song ‘No Matter’.

“I’ve been writing lots of new songs,” Grannis said after the performance. “I’m really excited. Probably four in the works that are almost done. So maybe I will be sharing those with you at some point in the near future.”

As for her workout routine, she said, “As far as the marathon stuff is going, I had a half marathon this weekend, and it was surprisingly fun. I was actually smiling the whole time and I’m sure a lot of people were weirded out by that, but I was just really happy and was just really excited about what I was doing.”

Kina Grannis Sings ‘Happy Birthday’ On Her 23rd B’day

Kina Grannis posted an update on her YouTube channel on Monday (August 4), which also happened to be her 23rd birthday. Kina performed ‘Happy Birthday’ to other fans celebrating a birthday this week. Kina then talked about her show at the Ford Amphitheatre in the Hollywood Hills and wrapped up talking about the YouTube site dedicated to her YouTube birthday shoutouts.

“So I’m gonna make this quick, because otherwise I will spend my entire birthday in front of the computer,” Kina said. “Which I don’t really mind doing, but I just feel I should do something. Later today I will be uploading a very exciting video. It’s David Choi and my little collaboration we’ve been working on.”

Kina Grannis Covers Switchfoot’s ‘Let That Be Enough’

July 23, 2008 - Kina posted a cover of the Switchfoot track ‘Let That Be Enough’ at her YouTube channel. The singer songwriter, recording from her hotel room in Denver, talked afterwards about opening for Switchfoot at a benefit show in Hollywood. The clip ends with Kina at the airport in Phoenix, apologizing for her “lame lame shout outs”.

“I’m sitting here in my hotel room in Denver,” Kina said. “I have a flight to catch in a few hours. I’m gonna be in the airport all day, so hopefully I will be able to send this out on Monday, because today is Monday… Yeah, speaking of Switchfoot, I don’t know if you’ve heard but I’m playing at this benefit concert at the Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood on August 10th. A whole bunch of people will be playing like A Fine Frenzy and Tyrone Wells, Keaton Simons, he’s awesome. Also, Jon Foreman of Switchfoot will be playing, which is really cool because I love him. The lead singer of Vertical Horizon too, and I love them. It should be a really fun show.”

Kina Grannis latest YouTube video features the singer songwriter instructing viewers how to perform guitar on ‘Message From Your Heart’, the song featured in the Doritos Crash The Super Bowl contest commercial. After learning it, Kina wants people to post their covers.

“Thank you guys so much for always being so supportive, watching these videos, and giving me requests, and compliments, and the will to move forward in this crazy music industry,” Grannis said.

Kina Grannis Covers Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’

Kina Grannis posted an a cover of the Leonard Cohen track ‘Hallelujah’ on her YouTube channel.

The Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest winner followed the performance by apologizing for missing some chords in the end, blaming it on the heat in her room. Kina then talked about her show Saturday at the Westfield Century City Mall and a July 25th show at Hotel Cafe. Kina then employed the help of Wall-E for her usual happy birthdays and shout-outs.

“I apologize for the chord at the end,” she said after doing the cover. “It’s like very hot in my room. I’m dying. I keep messing up but I’m gonna have to live with that today.”

Kina ‘Highlighted In Green’ Home Video

May 6, 2008 - Kina Grannis posted an acoustic performance of her original song ‘Highlighted In Green’, available at iTunes, on her YouTube channel. Afterwards, Kina talked about an appearance Friday on Lost Cause Radio, a May 24th appearance at the El Rey and several birthday shout outs to her online fans.

“That was kind of a staple back in the college days,” Kina said of the song. “I kind of neglected it for many years it seems.”

Kina Covers Leona Lewis’ ‘Bleeding Love’

April 22, 2008 - Kina Grannis is out with an acoustic cover of the Leona Lewis hit single ‘Bleeding Love’. After the performance, Kina ate some grapes and put on a birthday hat and read some upcoming birthdays for her friends and family. She then talked about a show at Cal State Fullerton. She ended by performing a new song she’s working on.

“Special happy birthday wish to her,” Kina said of her mother. “Without whom, I would not be alive, nor would I be functioning. So happy birthday everyone, I hope you have super weeks, especially for the birth day.”

Talking about her video attire, Kina said, “I’m always presentable from (the waist) up, but I mean it’s cold and at night whenever I’m recording. That means often times the lower half of Kina is like pajama pants and skiing socks, all sorts of unattractiveness.”
