UsMagazine.com spoke with Kylie Minogue in a Q&A as the Australian singer was promoting her eleventh studio album ‘Aphrodite’, asking the Australian pop star how she’s feeling now that her breast cancer has been in remission for five years. Mostly good. Some days I don’t think about it at all and other days I’m reminded of physically what I’ve been through,” the 42-year-old explained. “Life certainly changed but one thing that I latched on to while I was going through my treatment and hoping that everything would turn out OK, was a book, the name of which I forget, but someone said ‘Life doesn’t go back to normal, it’s a new normal’, and that’s really stuck with me. No, you’re not going to be back to how you were before; you’re just not, for all sorts of reasons. But it’s a new normal and you’ve just got to get used to it and get on with it, which is what I’ve done ever since.” Read more.
Kylie Minogue tells Out magazine that Lady Gaga’s emergence on the music scene played a role in the direction of her new album ‘Aphrodite’, since an album similar to ‘The Fame’ would have been viewed as trend following. “Lady Gaga dropped a meteor in the middle of the pop landscape – which is amazing,” the 42-year-old explained. “But it meant that we had to take that into account. It wouldn’t have made any sense to go down that road to try to fit in.” Read more.
Kylie Minogue is out with an interview clip taken from the Experience Edition of her new album ‘Aphrodite’, where she’s joined by Executive Producer Stuart Price. “It’s been described as a return to the dance floor,” the Australian pop singer said of the new album. “I don’t think I ever totally left, but it is a return to form, I would say.” Kylie added that “thoughts about the album aside, and I’ve been working with Stuart an awful lot on this project, it was just fun. He really really made it fun for me, and I felt secure.” Watch the clip via YouTube below.
Jake Shears and Babydaddy of Scissor Sisters spoke with NME backstage at Glastonbury Festival 2010 on Saturday afternoon (June 26), discussing the hot weather, being excited to have Kylie Minogue come out on stage for a song with them, other acts they plan on seeing during the festival, how Jake had his first date with his husband at the festival 6 years ago, and their new album ‘Night Work’. “I texted her about 5 weeks ago, I just had the idea pulling into an airport somewhere and it just popped into my head,” Jake said of the Kylie invite. “I sent her a text saying, ‘Do you want to do a song with us at Glasto?’ And two minutes later I got a text back saying in capital letters ‘HELL YEAH!’, and we got on the phone immediately and I was like we’ve gotta make this happen. Let’s do it. She was down immediately.” Watch the comments and the ‘Any Which Way’ performance via YouTube below.
Amy Schriefer of NPR.org reviewed Kylie Minogue’s new album ‘Aphrodite’ while the site is featuring the full album stream until it is released on July 6th. Amy says of the Australian pop singer’s 11th album:
The tracks, produced by Stuart Price (who also helmed Madonna’s Confessions on a Dancefloor), lack the edgy beats and inventive breaks to advance the dance scene, but they’ll fill floors around the world with a confident and sexy sound. Expertly mixed disco beats are laced with catchy choruses, particularly in “All the Lovers” and “Aphrodite.” The songs burst with joyous emotional swells that are perfect for lifting up the sweaty, dancing masses, but Minogue’s coquettish, whispery vocals sound as if she’s singing intimately to the listener.

Kylie Minogue says that her model boyfriend Andres Velencoso has passed an important test to keep their relationship strong, the ability to keep occupied while she rehearses and performs on tour. “There is a big test with me and boyfriends,” the Australian singer said, according to The Sun. “It’s when I am on the road because that’s when it’s most difficult. Andres was around for a bunch of the North American tour dates. And I didn’t have to worry about him. He took care of himself.”
