La Roux visited ‘Good Morning America’ in New York City on Wednesday (June 9). Elly Jackson talked about how it felt good to be the next British pop sensation, how winning over America was a bit of a dream, being a big Michael Jackson fan from an early age, having a soft spot for George Michael, and lots of mousse and strange powder helps her to achieve her unusual hairstyle. Elly Jackson of La Roux checked in with fans on the duo’s MySpace blog on Tuesday (October 20), talking about some canceled shows. The singer writes:
As some of you may know I have had to cancel a few things recently because I lost my voice. I now have a viral infection and am under doctor’s orders to rest my voice for a few days. I’ve been trying to soldier on but after my gig in LA last night it’s really sore. I am having to cancel Chicago… :( I’m really really sorry. We are now adding a Chicago date to our next US tour and I really hope you can all come. We’ll next be in town on the 1st Feb. elly xx
Elly Jackson of La Roux checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Wednesday (October 7), apologizing for canceling her show on Monday at Botanic Park in Adelaide, Australia. Elly writes:
To everyone that came to see us at Parklife Adelaide,
I’m so so sorry that we had to cancel the show. I got really sick in Sydney and couldn’t make it to the last stop on the tour. Had a temperature, a sore throat, the lot. We’d had such a great time in Australia and it was such a crappy way to have to end it. I’m really sorry if we disappointed anyone. We’ll come and see you next time we’re down under.
lots of love from elly
Elly Jackson of La Roux checked in with fans on the group’s blog at MySpace on Wednesday (September 23), reacting to Lily Allen’s blog on illegal file sharing of music and its impact on the recording industry. Jackson writes:
I’m not sure that many people understand that when you sign a record deal, you are effectively in debt to your record company for that amount. It all has to be paid back. As the artist, you also pay for all overheads out of your own pocket. That includes all tour costs, recording costs, marketing costs and the wages of any musicians and crew you employ. Not cheap. The idea is that over time, you will make enough money in record and ticket sales to do this. But it is becoming more and more difficult for new artists to get out of debt when people think that stealing their music is ok.
