May 23, 2004 – The Sunday Mirror reports Blue star Lee Ryan needed five stitches after being badly cut at the lavish Dolce and Gabbana party early on Saturday morning at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes, though the cause is in debate. Some tell the paper he was involved in a fight, while others the singer slipped and landed on some broken glass. “Lee did not get in a fight about a girl,” his spokesman insisted. “He had been drinking. He was saying goodbye to someone and then slipped and fell on some glass. But he did not get inolved in a fight over a girl.”
The Sun reports Lee Ryan been on several dates with Caprice Bourret since the pair met at a London club three weeks ago – and the model has told friends she and the Blue singer are in love. “She’s really happy at the moment,” a friend of Caprice’s revealed. “She’s been gossiping with friends about how she’s going out with Lee but that it’s meant to be secret. The group doesn’t believe it will fair well against ‘Pop Idol’ to top the singles charts. “We want to step out of the shadow of collaborating,” they said. “We don’t want to be the band that’s remembered for collaborations. Sir Elton John came along because he is a fan of ours and respected our music, and then Stevie Wonder came up and obviously you’re not going to turn round and say ‘no’ to him either. For us to actually come from England – we’re all from different backgrounds – but from where we first started to end up with Angie Stone and Stevie Wonder, well, that’s thank you to the fans and everyone who’s ever supported us.”

The Sun reports Blue star Lee Ryan has penned ‘Why Me’, a song for Mel Gibson’s controversial new movie, ‘The Passion Of The Christ’. The track is on a spin-off album of tracks “inspired” by the movie which also features contributions from Bob Dylan, Elvis, and Nick Cave. The singer, currently facing up to two years in jail if found guilty of assaulting two photographers, said, “I’m very spiritual and really believe in the film. When I asked them if I could get involved, they said, ‘Would you like to cover this Johnny Cash song?'”
