The Mirror reports Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy responded to news that Lily Allen had written a song about her on the B-side of the #1 single ‘Smile’. “I’m really flattered Lily’s written a track about me,” she said. “But I don’t know why she sings about wanting to be as pretty as me as she looks stunning. I’d like to look like her. I love her single and the way she wears trainers and gorgeous dresses. It’s about time we had a really cool British girl out there on the music scene.” But, after Cheryl profuse thanks, Lily pointed out that it is not a tribute. “I don’t want to look like Cheryl Tweedy! It’s tongue in cheek, it’s meant to be ironic,” she said. “I don’t have anything against her as a human being but I think the portrayal of her being the right thing for kids to look up to is wrong. It was a joke that not many people got. Of course nobody really wants to look like Cheryl, they just think they do.”
Nine’s ‘Today’ entertainment correspondent Richard Wilkins caught up with British songstress Lily Allen to chat about the success of her debut single ‘Smile’, thanks to Myspace, not being too worried about longevity, and more. The report at MSN.com has since been removed.

Lily Allen spoke with The Mirror about her technique to ward off unwanted attention from male suitors. “It’s particularly funny in a bar, when a guy comes right up into your face and is trying to grope you,” Allen said. “Girls should just clench their fist and go ‘bang’ on his nose. It doesn’t really hurt but it does make their eyes water!”
The Sunday Mirror reports Lily Allen and The Rakes drummer Lasse Petersen were spotted heading to a room at the K West Hotel in London’s Hammersmith. When pals joined them for a drink 30 minutes later, Lasse was sprawled in his bed looking a bit worse for wear. “It was all a bit strange,” a spy revealed. “They were both acting like nothing had happened. But it clearly looked like something had been going on as Lasse was lying in bed and wasn’t fully-clothed. And Lily looked very pleased with herself indeed. They were giggling at each other all night.”
Neil Sean of Sky News reports Lily Allen’s American label Regal records wants the outspoken singer to tone down her comments if she wants to find success in the world’s largest music market. “She is highly talented and a great personality, but fails to grasp that the US have a different stance on such radical views,” an insider said. “She wants to make it out there with her single ‘Smile’, and is already getting radio play.”
Lily Allen has branded Madonna “the most over-rated person in pop history”, telling GQ magazine: “I haven’t got anything against her at all but I don’t think anything she’s done since the early Eighties has really been, like, ‘wow’. Up-and-coming DJ Lester Lloyd tells The Sunday Mirror he is mystery lover who inspired pop sensation Lily Allen’s #1 single ‘Smile’. Lester admitted that the song was about him, but denied her claims that he cheated on her. “I don’t know why she’s saying that,” he said. “I’ve never cheated on Lily and never would. I know she’s telling everyone that I slept with her best friend, but it’s rubbish. I don’t even know which friend she means. She’s a sweet girl and I loved her. I still think she’s cool and we still talk. We just fell out of love. We’re both still young and it was the first time either of us had been properly in love. Yeah, I suppose we are the loves of each other’s lives and it was brilliant while it lasted. Eighteen months is a long time when you’re only young. We started rowing about stupid things like not ringing each other when we were supposed to or whose turn it was to do the laundry.”
