On Sunday night, over 125,000 people turned up to see a mini Take That reunion. It only lasted half a song, but it was the first time Mark Owen had been on-stage with Robbie Williams since Take That split. They dueted at the climax of the Robbie’s three day Knebworth stint – the largest gigs in British musical history. Which explains why the traffic jams were also the largest in British musical history.

Mark Owen spoke with The Sun about his weekend reunion with his former Take That bandmate Robbie Williams at Knebworth. He says, “It was a very emotional show and I was a bit choked at times. There were a few tears. It was an amazing night and one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The crowd just went on and on and you could feel the energy when you were up on stage. It was great performing with Rob again and it brought back a lot of memories.”

Mark Owen admitted to Dotmusic.com that at times it had been strange to watch former Take That bandmate Robbie Williams achieve such phenomenal solo success. “In a lot of ways I sit and watch him on the telly and forget that I was once in a band with him,” he explained. “I look at him and go ‘Wow!’. He’s done some fantastic videos and stuff, and some great songs. But when I see Rob [socially], it’s like seeing an old school friend really, in a lot of ways. He’s still my old mate, you know? When I see him I don’t see Rob who’s playing three nights at Knebworth, I see Rob who I met up with when we were 17 in Manchester at a gay club and started our rehearsals.”

Mark Owen confessed to The Mirror that he’s been quite jealous of the success his former Take That bandmate Robbie Williams has achieved. “I wondered why he was doing so well and the rest of us weren’t,” he said. “But he knows I’ll always be the better footballer.” Mark is going the solo route now himself where he performed on Sunday at Party in the Park in Cardiff.

The Sun reports Robbie Williams has buried the hatchet with former Take That pal Mark Owen and asked him to perform with him live. A pal of Robbie’s revealed, “Robbie decided that after eight years it was time to forgive and forget. He thought the best way to help his old mate would be to get him on stage at Knebworth, his biggest shows of the year. Rob really missed Mark when he left ‘Take That’. It took a lot for them to start talking again but now they’re good mates. There will be a lot of excitement because it will be the first time they have been on stage together since 1995.” Read more.

The Sun reports Mark Owen thinks old Take That bandmate Robbie Williams’ new album ‘Escapology’ is dull. He revealed, “I quite like a lot of it but I sat there and sat there waiting for it to end. It’s just too long. I reckon it’s a bit all over the place as well.”
