New Kids On The Block are getting back together. The veteran boy band did a photo shoot for People magazine and their web site has highlights from the session. The guys said it felt great to be back together and it was like old times. They also discussed how they’ve grown as musicians, if their dynamic has changed, and enjoying those screaming fans. According to ‘Access Hollywood’, NKOTB are set to appear on ‘Today’ on Friday. Watch the clip at People.com.
Former New Kids On The Block member Danny Wood checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace on Monday (January 28), following up on his earlier bulletin and giving a cloudier impression about a NKOTB reunion. He writes, “Hi to all the New Kids On The Block fans, I wanted to clarify since my first post this morning regarding the NKOTB reunion. I loved being a part of the group, and have always thought ‘maybe someday we’ll get back together’ – you just never know when your someday will come. I can guarantee all the fans that if this reunion were to happen, they would hear about it first on www.NKOTB.com.”
Former New Kids On The Block member Danny Wood checked in with his MySpace friends (@dannywood2006) on Monday (January 28) with the following bulletin:
Hello to everyone. Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the New Year. I wanted to address the rumors of the NKOTB Reunion Tour. There has been no talk of this and you are getting it from source directly. Never say never, and you can’t believe everything you read. On another note my solo record will be released in Australia in March. There are a few new songs on it and I hope you guys will check it out. Thank you so much for your continued support. Dwood
Wood was reacting to speculation that because the band’s website, which had previously been offline, is now back up and running that the group is plotting a comeback. The page shows a link inviting fans to sign up for information on the band. “There’s only one reason their website has come back to life,” a source said, according to News.com.au. “The boy’s are making a comeback and they’re desperate to relive former glory.”
Newly reformed Five were on MTV’s ‘Totally Boyband’, where they were asked for their thoughts on the all-star boy band which includes New Kids On The Block’s Danny Wood and Another Level’s Dane Bowers. “Ritchie [Neville] and the boys went on camera saying they thought Upper Street were crap and it wouldn’t work,” a source revealed. “The boys heard what they had said and were furious. Dane and Danny went beserk and offered to take them outside and show them what they thought away from the cameras. It was all kicking off.”
Upper Street from MTV’s ‘Totally Boyband’ performed on Wednesday (September 13) at Stringfellows in London, England. The band consists of Danny Wood (New Kids On The Block), Dane Bowers (Another Level), Jimmy Constable (911), Lee Latchford-Evans (Steps) and Bradley McIntosh (S Club 7).
Danny Wood, who will star in MTV UK’s ‘Totally Boyband’ in September, tells Neil Sean of Sky News his former New Kids on The Block bandmates are planning a reunion of sorts. “We are in talks about a 20th anniversary documentary and also have plans to remix and re-release our greatest hits,” Wood revealed. “We’re not planning to reform, but may do a one-off TV concert as a thank you to fans.”
Jordan Knight seems keenly aware of the role he played with the New Kids On The Block and how best to now capitalize on it — even if that means rehashing hits from almost 20 years ago for female fans now in their late 20s and early 30s. “I have no objection, because I like it, and I always have,” Knight tells the Ottawa Citizen. “I’ve never been ashamed of the whole music. Maybe the production, like the huge vibrato and the echo and reverb. But the songs and the way it hit people, I’ve always been a fan of that.” Read more.
