Niall Horan Of One Direction Talks ‘Today’, Simon Cowell & Tour Stops

One Direction member Niall Horan live

Niall Horan from One Direction was on the phone with Dylan of Mix 107.9 in Salt Lake City, Utah recently, where he talked about their ‘Today’ show appearance, upcoming television appearances, being wanted by so many girls, what Simon Cowell is like and trying to get everywhere while on tour.

On doing ‘Today’:

It was amazing. The ‘Today’ show is a very, very big deal for us. We had some sleepless nights a couple of days before it. It was amazing.

What it feels like to have every girl want the band:

It’s crazy. I don’t know where it’s come out of. They’ve just gotten a liking to us, and I think it’s because we’re like those guys from next door. We’re just regular kids doing what we’ve always wanted to do. Just having a laugh with it as well. Just having a good time.

On working with Simon Cowell:

It was really cool. Simon is a great guy. We get on very well with him and we call him Uncle Simon. We have a laugh with him. He’s got a great sense of humor, a very dry wit humor.

On visiting specific cities on tour, including SLC:

Hopefully we can get back. Our fans want us to come everywhere. It’s just trying to find, we really have to get to all these places at some stage, but we’re just trying to find a time to get to everywhere.

I’m just really intrigued to see where this ends up, because we have done so much in the last 18 months. It’s gonna be interesting to see where we stand in 2, 3 years time.

On whether people competing on ‘The X Factor’ got along, Niall said:

At the end of the day, why fight with everyone else? It’s the judges that are going to make the decision.

Niall Horan Discusses Simon Cowell, New Zealand Girls & If He’s Rich

One Direction member Niall Horan live

Stu of More FM caught up with Niall Horan from One Direction the other day. The boyband member talked about how they got formed on ‘The X Factor’, how Simon Cowell’s decision to pair them up led them to becoming a global sensation months later, whether he’s single, what he looks for in a girl, what Simon is really like, and more.

On things going well for the group:

It’s been really good. It’s been very, very fast moving.

On Simon putting them together:

That’s the thing I’m trying to get my head around. We’ve done promo all Monday and Tuesday. We were in Sweden and France. I was just having one of those moments where I thought to myself, can you believe where we are? We’re doing interviews in France and this is another example. Our album is absolutely as you know has gone really well in New Zealand. It’s actually crazy to think this time last year we hadn’t even had an album, and now it’s transferred to different parts of the world.

On whether he’s available for fans that are in New Zealand to greet him:

I’m a single Pringle. I tell you what, I love a good Australian accent, or a good Australian, New Zealand, I know you don’t like to be compared to the Australians because it’s a totally different accent. But yeah, I love a good accent. I love a good accent from the other side of the equator, so I can’t wait. I’ve heard the women are very, very attractive.

On the type of girl he likes:

I like a girl that’s kind of shy that kind of give the hint in their own way. I go for a drink. As you said I’m Irish.

On if he’s rich:

I don’t like to talk about that. All I can say is anything I do I help out the family and all that. Christmas was a good time.

One Direction Discuss Niall’s Farting, Dating Fans, Quality Music

One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) interview with Z100

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction stopped by to chat with Elvis Duran and the Morning Show the other day. The boyband talked about being greeted everywhere by thousands of screaming girls, how they put up with Niall’s farting, their rapid rise to fame, what makes them successful, how they view the quality of their music, their dream collaboration with Bruno Mars, if they date their fans, how they broke a bowling lane here in New York and more.

On missing home, Niall said:

Yeah, I miss home a bit. This has been the longest we’ve been away from home. We still have to tour Australia

On Niall’s farting problem on the tour bus, the guys said:

Harry: Well Niall sits in the front so he can open the window.
Louis: He’s not that courteous.
Liam: He won’t even tell you, but after he’s done it, he won’t even move.
Harry: He doesn’t even flinch. It’ll be like pffftt…

On fighting over girls, Harry said:

We don’t really. Some of us have similar tastes (in women), but we don’t really fight. I like a girl who has a good sense of humor. Fun.

On dating fans, Liam said:

I don’t really think it’s a thing or not whether they’re a fan or not, whether you’d date them. It’s whether they are nice, nice looking, good person.

Adjusting to their rapid rise to fame, Louis said:

I think everything is pretty surreal to us and we’re just enjoying the ride.

On besting Adele at the Brits, Liam said:

What I think about that is that it shows how good our fans are, because that award was voted by the public. That shows how good our fans are that we beat Adele, Jessie J to the number one spot. That was brilliant.

On what one thing makes them so successful, Harry said:

I think in terms of what we are, we don’t really know. I think what people like is we don’t have to try to get on, we just get on quite naturally. We’re like the kind of boys you go to school with. We’re the guys that would pick up the bras that would get thrown on stage. We’re not really completely clean cut… I think we’re quite lucky with how our fans are, because our fans have made it so we feel completely comfortable being ourselves whatever we’re doing.

On the quality of their music, Liam said:

I think we’re quite happy with how the album came out. We took a lot of time over it because we wanted to make sure we had the write sound and we didn’t want to just dive in and get a quick record out. We wanted to make sure we got a good record out, so that’s kind of where ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ came. We searched around for that song. We love our album, it’s fast songs, slow songs, mid-tempo songs. There’s something on there for everyone. You name it.

One Direction’s Niall Horan Discusses ‘One Thing’, DVD

One Direction member Niall Horan interviewed before Louis Tomlinson pops in on Ralphie Radio

One Direction’s Niall Horan recently talked with The Ralphie Radio Show about the boyband’s second single from their debut album ‘Up All Night,’ entitled ‘One Thing’. The Irish pop star also talked about their DVD ‘Up All Night: The Live Tour’.

On how the song ‘One Thing’ came about:

Well, ‘One Thing’ was recorded by the same guys who did ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, Rami (Yacoub) and Carl Falk and they were in Sweden. We actually had the album nearly finished, and ‘One Thing’ was one of the last songs we recorded. We actually flew to Sweden to do ‘One Thing’ and ‘I Wish’ because we felt like this was a crackin’ song and we needed to record it, so it was actually one of the last songs. It was the perfect cousin to ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. It’s the same kind of vibe. Really punchy chorus. We just wanted to make a good song and it’s our next single.

On the DVD watching party:

We haven’t seen the DVD. We’d seen it early on in its early stages when it wasn’t like they do stuff to make it hi def and make the sound a little bit better and stuff, so we’ve only seen the very early stages, when they didn’t have the behind the scenes or the special features. We’re all watching it together and we’re doing a Twitcam to watch it together and all the fans can watch for the first time with us.

One Direction’s Zayn Malik Discusses Simon, Sexuality & Money

One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) live in concert

Zayn Malik of One Direction was on the phone with The Edge in New Zealand, where he talked about the rapid global success of the band, how they’ve gained a following in countries that didn’t air ‘The X Factor’, being mentored by Simon Cowell, if any of his bandmates were gay, the money they’re making and what he’s spent some of it on, and more.

On being like a nasty virus taking over the world:

I don’t think that’s a nice way to describe it, but yeah, it’s amazing we’re blown away by the kind of response that we’re getting to the first single, and we’re just massively grateful for all the support that we’re getting and we just want to say a massive thank you.

On being big in countries that didn’t have have ‘The X Factor’:

It is really strange to see the kind of response that we’re getting in different countries because they don’t have the TV program. They don’t have ‘The X Factor’ culture. They’re just seeing it on Twitter and YouTube, and they’re going crazy for it and it’s wicked and we’re massively excited and we’re really happy that we’re having this kind of response from people.

On how Simon Cowell was to be the group’s mentor:

He was very different to what we thought it was going to be like, because obviously he gets portrayed as this massively scarey figure who is like the head of the music industry. We met him and he’s such a cool, down to earth guy. You can go and talk to him about football and girls and he’s really cool. He has stayed completely faithful to us and he’s took full control of the One Direction campaign and everything and he’s still there making the decisions.

For gay fans of the group, if any members are of similar sexuality:

Sorry for the gay fans, but none of the guys are gay. We like our girls.

On the money coming in:

We’re just concentrating on the music at the minute and concentrating on getting out to the fans and stuff. We’re concentrating on the tour that is coming up and we’ve been rehearsing. We don’t really look into that side of things too much.

One Direction’s Fame Is A Bit Weird For Their Families

One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) live

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction sat down with Fifi & Jules on the Today Network backstage during their Melbourne gig, where the boys revealed all on who they chatted up at the Logies, who likes being sans clothing, how their family deals with the boys being so famous, Louis’ secret, Zayn’s hygiene and pre-show rituals.

On how their family copes with their sudden fame, Harry said:

You know it’s a bit weird for them, because we see it firsthand, and they kind of see it from a distance, so it’s quite weird. Whenever we have family members that come out and see us, it’s quite educational to learn. They get to see security…

On unrevealed secrets they wanted to share, Louis said:

I am an eighth Belgium. I think I’ve had it in my life a long time.

On who has the worst hygiene, Harry revealed:

I would say Zayn, because he conks the most I reckon.

One Direction Discuss Australia, 2013 Tour & Rihanna

One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) live at a campfire

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction sat down for an interview with the Hot 30 Countdown during their visit to Australia. The boyband discussed how well they’ve been received by fans in Australia, getting a day off while there, their fans being like seagulls, the 2013 tour and Harry’s reaction to Rihanna saying he’s the cutest member of the group.

On their reception in Australia, Harry said:

It’s been absolutely amazing. We had no idea how crazy it was down here, and we’ve had great fun since we’ve been here.

On whether the trip has been like a holiday, Harry said:

I think we’ve been on the road now for nearly ten weeks, so I think it was a rare day off, so we did have a bit of fun, but we work very hard, so we’re back to work.

On Hot 30 calling their fans seagulls because of their screams, Harry said:

We feel like we owe a bit more respect to our fans than to call them seagulls.

On the upcoming 2013 tour, Liam said:

So we’re doing a big tour in 2013. We’re coming back over here. We’re going all around Australia and doing the big arenas out here and there’s lots of seats to fill so stay tuned for details and tickets on our web site.

Liam on who he’d have play him in a movie about his life:

I dunno, because I like to weight train a little bit. Do a little weightlifting, so I think probably someone like Taylor Lautner or something like that. I don’t know.

Zayn on not having a passport until recently:

Yeah, it’s true. I did not have a passport before One Direction.

Niall on his last text message:

It was my cousin from Australia and he said he was watching our interview on Sunrise.

Harry on celebrating his 18th birthday:

I went out for a bit with my family and me and the boys had some fun.
