Why doesn’t the world still love ! Back in the 80′s this guy was rival to Michael Jackson, and was producing some of the best pop records of all time, yet today he is a mere legend, passed down by those who remember his glory days. His last album was a “return to form” of sorts as he acheived good sales and won back the critics, but could still not manage to match his past successes. Hopefully, with a new album scheduled for release this year, the man who helped define the modern Pop/Rock era will be welcomed back into the mainstream!

Rolling Stone’s annual list of music’s top fifty earners has in the peak position edging out with $56.5 million. Prince’s tour took in $90.3 million in ticket sales scoring the year’s second-highest-grossing tour and thanks to low production costs, his net take was larger than top grosser ’s. came in right behind with $54.9 million. Despite playing only fifty-six concerts in 2004, hauled in more money on the road than any other artist. She also demanded and got ninety-five percent of her shows’ profits. Down at No. 37 is Britney Spears who made $13.8 million even though her tour was cut short from a knee injury.

’s tour tops this year’s Pollstar list of 2004′s Top 100 Tours at the midway point of the year with $45.7 million in grosses. He has sold a total of 737k tickets, with an average gross of $1.038 million per show, based on an average ticket price of $61.59. ’s Re-Invention Tour comes in right behind selling $44.9 million worth of tickets. sold 258k total tickets at an average price of $174.17 (highest in the Top 100). also has the largest average gross per show at a whopping $6.414 million. She has approximately another 642,000 further tickets sold for the remaining concerts. This will put ’s total concerts in excess of $120,000,000 for 2004. Britney comes in at number 13 moving 299K tickets for a total of 18.9 million.

Prince Is Snide About Competing Tours
