Regina Spektor updated fans on her blog at MySpace (@reginaspektor) on Sunday (June 21), talking about her concert last Wednesday at Beacon Theater in New York City and the pending release of her fifth album ‘Far’. The singer songwriter tells readers:
First of all, thank you so much to everyone who came to the Beacon theater, that night was so amazingly happy… Then after, I saw so many people from my life – tons of friends and family and some people I hadn’t seen in years, and of course, tons of you whom I don’t know, but get to play to, anyway… that always amazes me… Who are ya? How can you be there if I don’t know you… hmmm… well, it’s just very very cool. Thank you!
Now… The record is coming out real soon. On Tuesday June 23rd. And Today is Sunday the 21st. Holy mother of father’s day! I can’t believe it’s happening right soon like that… yeah, i know it’s not the most poetic way to write, but I am just too happy to be poetic. Sometimes it’s just “FU*************!!! WOW!!!
Regina Spektor checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace (@reginaspektor) on Tuesday (May 19), talking about an imposter on Twitter (the account has since been suspended). The singer songwriter tells readers:
I found out that there has been a mystery person posing as me on twitter for a while. A long while. And that person has quite a following. A whole lot of people. Even my record label thought it was me. And it made it into the London Times top twitters list. Somehow I had no idea. And I’ve never twittered yet, in my life, so it feels very weird. Like my identity has been stolen, or at least borrowed.
So, I just wanted to pass that on. Whoever is the other me on twitter is quite good at it, so I hope now that they get the chance to stop pretending, they will use their talents of writing and blogging in some other cool new way. Anyhow, I’m not on Facebook either, though I am aware of an “official page” there. I write my blogs on MySpace and my dad posts them up, and sometimes when I can, I post them myself.
Regina Spektor updated fans on her blog at MySpace (@reginaspektor) on Monday (March 16), talking about her fifth album coming out in June and tour plans in support of it. The New York alternative pop artist tells readers:
My record, that I’ve been working on for a while now, with four wonderful producers, is finished. It’s going to come out in June! I did an interview with Pitchfork about it, and today it came out, so it’s starting to sink in that this is really happening… wow… wow. Wow! The feeling of being on a roller coaster and looking down at the plummet… Both exciting and terrifying. More exciting though… much more.
Kina Grannis posted a cover of ‘The Call’ by Regina Spektor on her YouTube channel. Afterwards, the singer songwriter commented, “I hadn’t heard of that song until recently, someone in the last post requested it, so thank you. I searched it, and I love Regina, but I never heard the song and it’s so pretty.”
“So I’ve been getting a lot of requests to do another tutorial video,” Kina said, “and teach you how to play one of my songs on guitar. Instead of picking a random song, I wanna know what song you guys actually want to learn. So if you go to my blog today at kinagrannis.com/blog, I put up a poll so you can vote on the song you want me to do. Hopefully I’ll get to that soon and then we can all play it together.”

“So I actually have a really good reason for my video being late today,” Kina said. “Today was my first official day in the studio. So excited. I’ve been kind of waiting for like 8 million years to make this album. That’s not entirely true, but the last album I put out was like 3 years ago from my garage, and it’s time that I make a real one. It’s pretty crazy. The New York Post reports Regina Spektor has recuperated after at her show on Wednesday night at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, where she collapsed 10 minutes before the gig. The Russian singer was rushed to a Nashville hospital when a “severe inner-ear infection caused a sudden case of vertigo,” according to her rep Steven Trachtenbroit. “Regina is feeling much better.” Spektor postponed Thursday night’s show “to ensure a full recovery.”
Regina Spektor spoke with Time Off magazine about the status of her fifth album and about touring Australia for the first time. “It’s all theory at the moment,” she said regarding the new material. “It’s like baking a cake in theory, but then all of a sudden you have to handle stuff with your own hands and you accidentally spill half of the milk, so you’ve only got half of it in the cake. Everything changes, you know. Man plans and God laughs. I might meet someone tomorrow who plays the best banjo I’ve ever heard and I might end up with banjo on my record.” Timeoff.com.au has since removed the full article.

I discovered Regina Spektor about a year ago. She is one of the most talented musicians on the scene and should be selling boatloads of records. Please check out her site and her live performances. Musicals rock when the songs are really good. Anyway just one of many things going on. I’m gonna go to Spain on Monday for 10 days and will be drinking lots of wine and buying lots of baubles for friends. Barcelona and then on to Fromentara. Travel has become one of my favorite things.
