For the disco-influenced New York band the Scissor Sisters, who have enjoyed major success in the United Kingdom, the U.S. market remains a challenge. “American music fans are just as musically open-minded as their British counterparts,” frontman Jake Shears told trade publication Billboard. “But the powers that be in the U.S. may not be as open-minded. Which, to a degree, will hold us back in the U.S. … Tons of Americans would love our music, but they don’t know we exist.”
The Scissor Sisters latest CD ‘Ta-Dah’, which was released in the UK on Monday, is already on course to become one of the biggest sellers of the year. August 23, 2006 – The Times of London reports Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie have been lobbying the government and nuclear industry over a scheme to clean up radioactive waste with a supposedly magic Kabbalah fluid. Downing Street, Whitehall and British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) were pitched by the couple to use a “mystical” liquid tested in a Ukrainian lake.
