Former Sugababe Siobhan Donaghy stopped by Capital FM in London to talk about her new solo career. Asked why she left the group, she explained, “We didn’t get on. I think that’s no revelation. I’d known for months I was going to leave. I was just being a coward about it because I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life and in the end you know, I thought, this is making me unhappy – I’ve just gotta leave it.” Audio has since been removed.
Siobhan Donaghy has revealed to the Sunday People that she was suicidal when she fled to her grandad’s Co Tyrone home after quitting the hit girlband the Sugababes. “I was so depressed when I left. The rest of the band was so ambitious,” she said. “They wanted to be Destiny’s Child and I was doing it for a bit of a laugh. But that doesn’t mean I did not work hard.” Now she is bouncing back with ‘Overrated’, her first solo single since leaving The Sugababes.

It’s sort of no revelation, is it,” she asked. “We were very young and why stay if it makes you unhappy? It’s sort of best for all involved, I think. I didn’t get on with them, I don’t think they’re horrible and I don’t think they’re cows. I’ve seen them a couple of times and we’ve had some nice, little, polite chats, but other than that I don’t really know them any more.”
