Sky Ferreira: I’m Going Through A Reinvention Phase

spoke with Rolling Stone in a Q&A, talking about her role as a face for CK One and the progress on her debut album. “I’m going through a reinvention phase, where I’m trying to figure out where it is I want to go next,” the 19-year-old said. “I’m not sixteen anymore, you know? I’m not sure I want to continue in the dance-pop vein that I’ve come to be associated with. The thing people may not know yet is that I have a really good voice; I can actually sing and I’d like to use that to my advantage. Everyone’s vocals are so processed now. So, showcasing what is unique about my voice and my songwriting is a priority. I have a lot more things to say now.”

, who is part of Calvin Klein’s ck one Spring 2011 lifestyle line campaign, is featured in an intimate video where the singer models some of the line to the tune of her song ‘Sex Rules’. The track appears on her ‘As If’ EP, due out March 22nd. “I feel happiest when I accomplish something,” the 18-year-old says in the video. “I always think what I want to think and say what I want to say, but I can’t always do what I want to do.” Watch it via YouTube below.

is set to release a digital EP ‘As If!’ on March 22nd. The lead-off track, ‘Sex Rules’, is currently for sale on iTunes. The five brand-new tracks will tide fans over until Ferreira’s debut album due out on Capitol Records this summer. The 18-year-old has been in London and Sweden working on the album which will feature a collection of electronic pop tunes put together with the help of Swedish hitmakers Bloodshy & Avant, Greg Kurstin, Dallas Austin and Teddybears.

EMI Pushes Back Sky Ferreira’s Debut Album Indefinitely

checked in with fans on her Facebook on Wednesday (December 15), bringing the news that her debut album has been pushed back by EMI. The album was originally set for a January 11, 2011 release. The 18-year-old insisted she hadn’t been dropped by her label, but the UK release of ‘One’ and U.S. release of ‘Obsession’ likely didn’t meet expectations of a major label. Sky writes:

Okay. My album is no longer coming out on 1-11-11… unfortunately. It was done, but things/people constantly change within ALL record labels & in life (DUH!). I am now recording even more material for the record because I feel like I’ve grown (musically) since when I was 15-16 years old. All of the songs will eventually come out because they are all important to me. I’m trying to push for an EP to come out in February too. It’s been extremely frustrating, but you know “these kinda things happen for a reason”. Thank you for the support and I’m glad I can CLARIFY what’s going on… Keep your eyes peeled for some big things happening this winter… STAY TUNED!<3
