Sugababe Mutya Buena Denies Everything

Radio 1 spoke with Sugababes star Mutya Buena who denied reports that the girl trio are splitting up and that she’s pregnant. “The funny thing is my mum rang me up and said we were in the newspaper, and I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ and she was like, ‘You didn’t tell me you were splitting up?’,” she explained. “I said, ‘Well, I’m in the group, I should know whether we’re splitting up or not. That’s like a load of rubbish, to tell you the truth.’ We don’t pick on Heidi. Heidi’s a lovely girl. Other than that, nothing else is to be said.”

Catfight In The Sugababes Camp

Keisha Buchanan has finally owned up to fighting with depressed Sugababes bandmate Heidi Range. Keisha tells The Sunday Mirror, “The arguments have not been very pretty. It was hard when she came into the group because Mutya and I had known each other for ages and suddenly had someone else in the group whom we didn’t know.” Rubbing more salt into the wound, Keisha also poked fun at how Heidi is trying to act more like them, as the trio is rumored to be on the verge of a breakup. “She is copying Mutya and I with all the hand movements,” Keisha sneered. “She tries to speak like us as well.”

Sugababes Cancel November Tour

August 8, 2003 – The Sun reports that the Sugababes have cancelled their November tour, claiming they need more time to record their new album. The tour dates will not be pushed out until next March. June 13, 2003 – Siobhan Donaghy, who used to sing with the Sugababes, was on hand at the Face Magazine party on Wednesday night. She tells Radio 1 that since leaving the group, she hasn’t been in contact with her former bandmates. “We didn’t get on. It’s sort of no revelation, is it,” she asked. “We were very young and why stay if it makes you unhappy? It’s sort of best for all involved, I think. I didn’t get on with them, I don’t think they’re horrible and I don’t think they’re cows. I’ve seen them a couple of times and we’ve had some nice, little, polite chats, but other than that I don’t really know them any more.”

The Sun reports former Five star Abs Breen is now dating Heidi Range of the Sugababes. “She’s really nice. I get on great with her.” Abs told the Sun. “I met her in a club when she had just joined Sugababes. A few months later we bumped into each other again and just hit it off.”

Sugababes Top UK Charts With ‘Freak Like Me’

April 28, 2002 – The Sun reports the Sugababes have topped this weeks UK singles chart with the help of Gary Numan’s 1979 ‘Are ‘Friends’ Electric?’ backing their single ‘Freak Like Me’ – and the girls didn’t even know who Numan was. Sugababe Keisha Buchanan revealed, “I didn’t have a clue who Gary Numan was, I wasn’t born until 1984. But my parents told me about him.” Numan was understanding of the girls not knowing who he was though saying, “The Sugababes are very young. It’s odd to think that when ‘Are ‘Friends’ Electric?’ was a hit the girls weren’t even a twinkle in their fathers- eyes.” He also doesn’t mind because he’s getting 50% of the royalties off the single.
